The pic is from Visjoners sig (see previous page of this thread). It's probably from a SMB3 hack. I've played a couple with altered map screens. Could PM Visjoner to find out but I don't think he's been around since December.

Hey, you said you have played some with altered map screens. What about the stages. Are they different. It would be very nice to see a whole new version of SMB3.

One I played recently is "SMB3 The Second Adventure" which can be found at www.rom-world.com . I played through the first few levels and they are all hacked variations of the originals. There are quite a few hacks like that at rom-world, especially SMB1 and SMB3. Some good, some bad, but always fun to check out.

Hey, I have that one a try, i must say its pretty cool.
I mean, playing levels that could have existed, but were never really there.

The Second adventure one only is different upto some levels in world 4. The later ones are same. But, i am impressed with what they have done.

on the above post, I meant I beat Wario Land 4, not Mario Land 4

Well, we have this little button called EDIT, it's rather useful...

LOL well nayway since this topic is here SML one was pretty cool the controls felt to light and fast (Like 80% of game boy games and versions) yeah but SML1 was cool and it was the only mario land where you use vehicles (the last stage mario is in an air plane!) But some of the graphics and features were pretty cool a little above SMB1 (animated backgrounds) So gooma flatten. You can kick turtle shells after stomping a koopa (Instead the shells explode) and the fire balls bounce of the walls now and collects coins too! SO you really had an advantage heh hhe also for every 100,000 points you get you get a continue if you lose all your lives. (bricks are still worth 50 points so rack them up in the shooting levels!) SML2 was like super mario world game except with a coupl of different items and engine). Its a bit chunky (which means it dont feel light as most gameboy games do) and you get a leaf on you hate when you get a fire flower bunny rabbit ears makes you float and eliminates you form having to press up and jump to do a high jump and you can do spin jumps (only when your big). So yeah these games are cool and have a lot more variety then the old mario games. But the classsics are still great though. So it is definitly worth a try. And if you like games where you collect a lot of stuff try all the wario games especially 1 (SML3) and 2 there the most greediest games you cna play when it comes to coins

You have a sword Ill make a bigger sheild and knock you down. You coem with a bigger shield, Ill make a bigger sword and knock you down.

I fight fire with ice any day.

Oh man i love SML1. I got it for my birthday way back in 1990 or 91? I think? I played it allll the time. One time i wasnt even planning on beating it but i got really far then i beat it and was SO excited. This might have been the first game ive ever beaten. Man what a great game. But SML2 was the best one on the gameboy to me.
