I got a Genesis model II with a CD addon from a yard sale for $3. The Sega CD works, but the Genesis has a wierd problem. Whenever you hear a voice from a game, it will be VERY low pitched or slightly lower pitched compared to a working Genesis. The video will look fine and the pitch changes every time you turn it on. Has anybody encountered this problem? If so, can it be fixed without replacing anything?

That's a weird problem indeed... Are you using the proper power adapter and cables and all that? What sort of audio cables are you using (RF, Stereo AV...)?

The cables I am using are official Sega cables. They work fine with the other Model 2 I have.

I am also having a genesis issue. I have sonic and knuckles. When I try and add sonic one to the top, it just has a screen that says "no way" with sonic shaking his finger. Whats the deal?

I believe the first Sonic game isn't compatible w/ Sonic and Knuckles. I think that was the one cart of the Sonic adventure games that wasn't compatible. Sonic 2 w/ Knuckles is pretty cool though ;)

It's not compatible in the way that the others are, but if you input a very simple sequence of button presses (that I can't remember at the moment) you get to play some bonus levels.

I think you press in A, B, and C, and you get "Blue Sphere" mini games.

That sounds about right.

I REALLY need to find a copy of Sonic & Knuckles.

They can't be that hard to find. I got mine with Sonic 3, 2 genesis controllers, all hookups, and a model 2 genesis for 30 dollars.

Sonic & Knuckles was designed beside Sonic 3, when the two are locked together it makes for the the best Sonic game ever, Sonic 3 ends, and flows right into Sonic & Knuckles. Though both are also standalone games.

When locked on to Sonic 2, you're given access to Knuckles as a playable character.

On Sonic 1, you get some bonus stages after inputting the button sequence mentioned above.

No, they're both carts. The Sonic and Knuckles cart has a flap on the top that you can open, revealing a connector for another cart. Here's a pic:

I think I found the problem. This Genesis has a VERY dirty cartridge connector. When it has trouble communicatng with the cart, it will take longer to load the Sega screen, and after sonic runs across, it will hesitate before saying "Sega". Someone obviously didn't take very good care of it.
