I finished up my little overclocking project. Now I was wondering if I could dummy down the sound with some type of electronic component(s)?

Anyone attempted this?

Thanks.

You'd probably have to hand-build a circuit to lower the audio pitch since it's digital. Good luck stuffing it in the NES, though. Especially if you have a model two. What'd you overclock it to? I suggest placing a switch on the front to switch between overclock and normal speeds as well. Some games are timing oriented.

It is not overclocked to any specific speed. I built a circuit with an oscillator socket, so that I could swap in and out any frequncy oscillator I wanted. Ive pumped it as high as 6.66mhz, but I usually stick with 2.0/2.5mhz or so. I would go higher, but I can't find any oscillators over 80.00mhz. If anyone has any over 80.00mhz, please let me know.

I do use a switch aswell, I can't stand the way overclocking speeds up the sound. Its not so bad if you start a game off overclocked.

As for building some sort of audio circuit, thats no problem for me. I just need to know what kind of electrical components could accomplish this.

Ive thought of bridging in another oscillator onto the sounds lines to bring the frequency down a notch. Im still toying with this idea, its hard to think about NES when you work all day.

Thanks.
