I have a chance to buy Super Punch Out but I wanted to know what any of you thought of it first. I am not sure I want to part with the money. I had Punch Out for the NES and really liked it. Is super punch out anything like the one for the NES??? Do any of you have any pros or cons to mention about the game??? Even your thoughts about the game would help. Thanks guys!

Super Punchout is always worth a buy (of course if it isn't too expensive  ).

I don't have any cons about the game. :)

I find 'Super Punch-Out' to be quite disappointing compared to the original game.

The cons

Your playable character's sprite is so large that it hides a lot of the action. It's difficult to see your opponents maneuvers, hereby making game play difficult to master.

The original 'Punch-Out' has a good sense of rythm to it where you can actually learn to fight each opponent, where as 'Super Punch-Out' resorts to matches that can only be won by "luck" most of the time.

Some of the opponents have relentless "dodging tactics" that (while may be intersting at first) ends up making for annoying and overlong matches.

Some of the fighters are just plain cheap - using flying kicks, knocking you down with one hit too easily, or you can only land a punch on them at the right split-second moment.

The pros

It has good, well detailed graphics.

The sound has obviously been greatly approved.

Optional "Time Attack" mode.

Some old fighting favorites from 'Punch-Out' return.

You will actually need to learn to dodge to both sides to avoid certain punches.

The characters have the same sense of comical personality.

...

The best suggestion would be to actually try playing an emulation of the game to see what you think of it first. It's like trying before you buy... ing.

It's a great game and I don't think you need luck or that the boxers are cheap. You just have to learn the patterns. I think it's a bit easier than the NES game.

Well, I took your advice and did buy the game (for 2 dollars, I didn't think that was too high). I agree, may not be as great as the NES version but it is pretty fun.

Man, Punchout...there's a series that died in it's prime. Seeing as you already bought it, know this: Any guy with a day to waste can beat the first 3 circuits of Super Punchout in a day. For the last one, heh...good luck. First guy is easy enough, but thereafter...welcome to hell.

This stands as the only game series of considerable difficulty that I've mastered.

My List. Remember, everything can be bought, for a price.

I dont want to brag or anything, but I can beat the old chinese guy (Hoi Carlo) in under 10 seconds, and he's pretty hard to beat.

So it's not all about luck...it's more challenging than the first one. You just have to use your NES skills, which would be to play a hell of alot!

yeah! I'ts friggin hard to do...but If you time your punches right, you can counter-attack him before he hits you.

at one point he gets dizzy and spins around the ring...then you give him a timed knock-out punch! Then another when he gets back up..he'll try hitting you twice..after the second punch, you land one last knock-out punch and he's down.

The record was 8.36 seconds I think. I did it once in like 8.85 seconds.

But then again...I probably would have a hard time doing it again. Takes alot of practice
