I briefly mentioned this purchase in the collecting forum, but I figured I'd clarify here. While the Model 2 SNES isn't quite as rare as the Model 2 Toploading NES, going to a random pawn shop and finding an SNES at all is rare. Finding one that's not a yellowed, stained, scratched Model 1 with the reset button missing is even rarer. Finding a near mint Model 2 for $35 is even better.

Great deal. :) Congratulations.

The design isn't bad.
I'd like to find a new model Super Famicom, too. It's called Super Famicom Jr. in Japan.

Good stuff! The SNES that I may be getting from that collectibles shop here in town is a model 2. But, you are right. The one there is scratched all to hell, so it's not near as cool as that! You sure did luck out on it!

Haha, I was so pumped. They had it hooked up to a TV in their video game area and I thought it was just used to test SNES games on before they sold them. I figured this SNES deserved to be more than a display system for every little bastard in the store to get his grubby hands on and mistreat (you guys ever looked at display models of systems at like Walmart or Target? I swear, I have never seen a PS2 display model with both analog sticks intact).

Before this thing got totally mangled, I wanted to buy it and was gonna give them a price, but as I got closer, I saw they had a price tag on it anyway. $35! (You can't find an NES in this town for under $40) And seriously, this thing is beautiful. No scuffs, not yellowed from cigarette smoke, the buttons aren't worn or loose, all the stickers on the bottom are intact, just gorgeous. The rubber feet on the bottom are a little dirty, but nothing a little Windex couldn't fix.

Even the controller is in great condition. Little grimy from being a display model, but again, a little Windex and Q-Tip job'll have it looking brand new.

I got my Snes model 2 new for $20.00. Needless to say, it is still white, unscratched, and the reset button is still there.

I have an SNES model 1 in very good condition. The casing is still it's white and there are no signs of abuse. The only problem is the power cord - it has to be bent a bit to work.
