Do you think the ability to play old school games will attract many gamers, I know it might get me to buy

Maybe, but the dreamcast can do the same thing for free.

The only Nintendo console the DC can run accurately is the NES, SNES runs at 80% speed, at best. and I don't think anyone has ever attempted an N64 emulator on the DC.

Well, it's a bonus for sure... but the main reason I want to purchase a Rev is for the crazy-cool controller itself! Being able to actually physically be a part of a game is awesome. A definite leap for console games.

I think it depends on how much they charge for those old games. Judging by how much they make on the GBA NES classics range, I don't think they'll be mega cheap.

Frankly, it makes me kind of nervous. If they're going to be profiting from it, that might give them reason to start cracking down on ROM sites.

I have the originals of lots of interesting games, so I'm not worried, too.
I also think that classic gaming on the Rev will only ne a nice bonus feature.
The reason for buying it should be the controller and the cool games for it.
I can't wait. :)

The uforce, power glove, and ROB all failed. The power pad has been reincarnated by the DDR explosion.
As far as I can tell Nintendo is just trying to cash in on niche markets and bring their fans with them. There have been a few games to implement the DS touch screen well, and still maintain an overall good game feel. It will be the same for the revolution.

As for playing the classics. I don't know much about it but I am willing to bet (unless otherwise stated already by Nintendo) it's a subscription fee based service that could be packaged in with some online deal and it won't be 'for keeps.' It will stream or be temporarily in the RAM of the system. but I don't keep up to date with these things. The games you buy aren't yours forever. They'll want to keep the novelty of collecting around. It keeps interest in the company and the game series as a whole.

I wish everyone would just leave old games alone. then we could get them all for cheap. what a wonderful world that would be.

Yea that would be awesome. Us true classic gamers could collect all the original stuff without having to have thousands of dollars.

Anyway I dont think the classic feature is going to be enough for me to buy one IMMEDIATELY, but Ill get one eventually.

It's a nice feature to have, but I think that i'd probably get one anyway. Wether I use the classic games feature or not is dependent on the price of this particular service.

You know what would be wicked-ninja-cool? If they set a fair price for classic games (i.e. all NES RPG's on a disc or download for somewhere between free and $40) You could buy a whole genre of games and play what you wanted on a system with a smooth user interface, a factory warranty, etc.

I'd like to see online NES gaming (RC pro-AM or mario brothers or ikari warriors or Contra) with an x-box live type system.

Yep, you just pop the discs right in there. it's even supposed to have GC controller ports on it.

I always dreamt of a compilation of all available SNES RPGs... :D
That's a cool idea, but will never happen, unfortunately.
So I have to get them all one by one and I think I already got quite many. :o
