hey, my game shark doesnt seem to want to work. and I think its because of the way you have to put the game ontop of the game shark itself. it doesnt seem to stable. do all game sharks for the N64 suck or is it just mine?

The ALL suck! I'm sure someone here will complain, and try to prove me wrong with some story about how they've had theirs for 13,000 years, and it works every time... but they all suck, and they all break. I went through one, a friend killed another... it's just the WORST accessory you could ever get.

 I was just gonna open a new thread to say how great the Game Shark was for N64...... Not for how long it lasts (I went through two of them myself) but for the code programming. I thought it was great for a console to have an accesory that you "hack" games with. Anyone disagree with that?

I don't know. I got a Gameshark when it first came out, and by the time 1080 Snowboarding was released, Nintendo had managed to program the games so they didn't work with it any more. So I had to buy a new gameshark if I wanted to use it. Which I didn't. What a waste :P

The latest version of gameshark was 3.3 and I thought it worked with all N64 games? NES-Luke can you elaborate?

Well I found this from HEREQuote:Recent Nintendo 64 games, starting with 1080° Snowboarding, Banjo-Kazooie, Diddy Kong Racing, and Yoshi's Story are capable of blocking standard Game Shark codes. A blank screen will appear if these titles are used with an older Game Shark. A special "Keycode" feature has been added to Nintendo 64 Game Sharks that are at least version 1.08.
The Keycode menu can be accessed on such cartridges by pressing L + R at the main Game Shark menu. The menu allows preset codes or newly defined codes to be selected. Once the appropriate codes have been selected, the Nintendo 64 console must be powered off to allow the Game Shark to switch to the Keycode mode. When the system is turned back on, the game will start with the cheat features enabled. When the Nintendo 64 is powered off after game play, the Game Shark will revert to standard mode. Which basically says that while newer "Anti-cheat" versions of games came out Gameshark created a way around it, making the system believe it wasnt being modified. Also the "Gameshark button" was another way to instantly add a value to memory without causing the blank screen. I have never owned or used a N64 Gameshark but I would like to get one regardless of how poor quality they are. Just thinking of being able to hack N64 games is awesome.

As long as you take it easy with it and try not to drop it off a tables and stuff it should last for a while. As far as the hacking goes, it works basically the same as a value search function. I used it the most on RE2. Unlimited ammo, CHOOSE YOUR WEAPON ANY WEAPON 8) , basically anything (if you wanted to put the time into it). I am going to buy one or two (just in case one breaks  ) as soon as I can find one for cheap.
