Do you have NES phases? Are you really obsessed with it and all aspects related to it for a couple months, then get tired and don't touch it again for 8 months? I tend do do this with other consoles too, but mainly when I get a new game and obsess over that game for a bit.
I've been through about 3 NES phases since 2003. I've been out of it for a while, I haven't bought a game since Christmas :P
I guess the only way to get around it is to not OD on your Nintendo Entertainment System.

I am the worst at phases. I go through phases on EVERYTHING, whether it be game related or not. I am currently on a DreamCast kick. In two days I will start my DS phase 8), then shortly after I'll probably start another, then another, and another.

I'm the same way^^, with everything. Like right now, I'm not really into watching movies at all, I'm mostly switching back and forth from games to guitar and back again. Since I got into the world of emulators, the games have pretty much taken over my very soul, but that's not necessarily a bad thing  !

Some years ago I stopped videogaming and only watched anime and read manga. Then again that phase ended and now I'm here gaming and collecting. I've also phases inside phases. I'm now in the handheld phase. I hope I'll soon enter Gamecube phase that I can play my Baten Kaitos 2. :)

 I never thought about that.. I go through, and, am going through those as well :P. Since I got my computer I have been a PC junky, but in the same time I have gone through many other phases ie: modding consoles, Builiding models, Playing guitar, XMODS, etc etc... Good one manuel, also very well put.

Games are generally the only collectibles that I'm interested in that do not rule my life. Everything else is entirely a spastic, uncontrollable impulse buy. (OMG WTF BBQ QWIUJHSEGFHZFHSAJF Z-BOTS!!!!!1!!!!!1!11!!!one!!!!eleven)
