Guerilla War - First game I ever beat
Contra - Slaughtered it
GnG - I hear you there
Karnov - Ditto
Rambo - WTF?
Double Dragon - Ouchies
Battletoads - double as above

Get my drift?

this is an old post but I have to mention these 2 games.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles:

One of the hardest games to finish (even with a game genie)

Ninja Gaiden 1:

I don't think I even beat this game. made it to the end where you fight his father I think. I had every single level memorised where to jump, and where all the enemies attacked it was ridiculous.

Got to agree with you on Ninja Gaiden, but Roth's Tip Video may help you!
BTW, I forgot one--Castlequest. Has anyone ever finished this hellish game?

ZEN has. He played through the MSX game The Castle and found out Castlequest was that game, only not as good. After playing The Castle he played all the way through Castlequest to see. I haven't had the patience to sit through that game yet haha.

I find Smash TV to be hard. Then again I find Karnov to be hard because kicking in the air makes me die. And I can't stop doing it. Anyway, in Smash TV, for those of you who've never played, you must play the most recent Reality/Game TV Show around, in which either you or you and a buddy must run frantically around killing scores of soldiers, snipers, and apparent policemen from a Benny Hill film, all the while dodging millions of bullets and shrapnel from Shrap Niel, and finding your way through a maze of rooms which eventually lead to the prize. The Host? A playboy guy with some typical NES voice acting quality to him. Maybe better than typical. Anyway, I never get very far because while I'm despairing over the fact that there are som many rooms, I tend to get hit by many, many projectiles.

If you think you're right, you're probably wrong.

Yeah, Smash TV is definitely a very tough game. I have tons and tons of problems trying to beat the first boss alone! The main thing I love about this game though is the fact that you can use two controllers to make it like the actual arcade (somewhat, of course).

On Karnov, what do you mean by "kicking in the air?" I'm confused :P

I'm pretty awful at most NES games, but Double Dragon in particular.

That game was pretty hard for me at first, but I beat it twice; it would've
been three, but I had to go to the market & my sister played it when I was gone; & I was at the final level, THE END of the final level; When I got back, I only had five life bars left(out of a meter of over 50 or 70). needless to say I got my ass kicked.
That was my 2nd attempt. But I beat it.

My friend and I found one of the hardest games ever. Between us we've beaten Ninja Gaiden III the same day I bought it and Astyanax our first try.
Technically, this isn't an NES game, but I figure Famicom is close enough.

Holy Diver, a game loosely based on DIO's album and has a distinct Castlevania flavor to it. Between us we got to Level 4 (of 5) and were unable to beat the first part of the level, and that was an effort of a few hours. I swear, this game is more frustrating than Ninja Gaiden III, and it even has unlimited continues.

My List. Remember, everything can be bought, for a price.

Wasn't he the one to first finish Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, too? He must have incredible patience, or expert knowledge of rebuilding smashed controllers/NES systems, lol!

Nevermind. I'm changing mine to Dr. Jekyl & Mr. Hyde. Wow! That game makes me seriously feel retarded. Ghost 'n Goblins is much easier than that.

Well, maybe that was just in my experience, but all I can remember about the two times I played Karnov, I kept trying to attack in Midair, causing instant death. My memory's a little fuzzy, but that's what I recall...
