Whether Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2 is worth a purchase is really up to how big of a fan you are of Dragon Ball. The game has a ton of fan-service (not the naked kind… sorry), a ton of production value, and an insane amount of options to dig through. The sheer fact that the game can boast 120 different playable characters is just sick, and while a ton of those are super forms of main characters there’s no denying the sheer depth of the game’s roster. The new five-on-five tag battles are a blast as well, sending epic battles upwards of five minutes long at times (longer if you’re still new at the game), while the training mode alone can take up to an hour to truly master.

Simply put, this game is absolutely stuffed with content, and if you dig Dragon Ball it’s a no-brainer. The sheer speed and complexity of the controls may turn some people off, but the general combat will eventually come down to two buttons, making the game amazingly easy to learn, but nearly impossible to fully master. This one uses every button on the controller, a good deal of motion on the Wii version, and it moves at an insane speed. Still, for gamers that can get into it, Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 is one of the most entertaining and fierce anime fighters around. This is every DBZ fan’s wet dream.

9.0 Presentation
An awesome cel-shaded look, a story mode that covers every saga in the franchise battle for battle, 120 playable fighters, and hours of English/Japanese VO. What more could you ask for?
8.0 Graphics
Player damage, destructible environments, tons of solid character animations and effects, and an overall look that rivals the show. Supports 480p, but no 16:9. Weak.
8.0 Sound
There’s hours of dialogue for both English and Japanese fans, as well as over 30 music tracks. Some of the sound effects could be better though, and most is rehashed from the previous game.
8.0 Gameplay
The AI is pretty tough, and the combat has gotten a bit better. The added motion control is a definite plus, and basically evens out the fact that the game is a port of the PS2 version.
8.5 Lasting Appeal
With an immense story mode covering the whole Dragon Ball lineage, Ultimate Z fighter customization, and all-new tag battles the game is simply huge. A bit More depth in fighting is needed.
8.3
Impressive

I can't wait to get this game when I get my Wii. I have been a big fan of the Dragon Ball Anime since I was little.

Jeez, I had MORE than enough of that after my brother got the first and second games. Hopefully they'll die off now.

Guess someone isn't a fan of Dragon Ball anime? I can't wait to play this game. I heard that the Wiimote controlls are kind of hard to get use to but you can play with a GCN controller if you want, I may just do that after awhile.

Anime shmanime, my little brother practically had me beating the games for him. Fight after fight after fight after fight after boring, monotonous fight.

Thank the Good Lord he hated the second one, or he would have gotten even more.

Yeah, I do agree that the games were pretty monotonous... They changed them little by little each game, steadily getting better. The game has huuuge potential to be an awesome fighter, they just need someone who can put the magic into them.
