Man, my buddy got twilight princess for gamecube and a few of us played the first five hours. And I am actually quite disappointed with it thus far..I was expecting something completely mind blowing. I was looking back through the games of this year, and like manuel said there wasn't much competition. I haven't really played any games that would be better. I think Okami could have been great, but I didn't give it much a chance...maybe i'll try that one again.

Wow, didn't look very hard apparently... 360: Gears of War Oblivion Rainbow Six: Vegas Dead Rising PS3: uhh... I hear Resistance was good. :P Wii: Twilight Princess, and, uhh... yep, Twilight Princess. PS2: Guitar Hero II Final Fantasy XII Okami XBox: Black, and... Nope, just Black. Cube: Twilight Princess DS: Yoshi's Island 2 New Super Mario Bros. Mario Vs. Donkey Kong 2 Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin Mostly off the top of my head. Yes, I realize that Twilight Princess can't compete with itself, but the Nintendo consoles were really lacking this year. Note that these are not MY picks, but just very well received games released this year that I can remember.

I looked plenty hard, don't you worry. But of what i saw nothing really stood out. www.gamerankings.com -- top 200 for the past 12 months. Admittedly, I haven't played much 360, but I have heard gears of war is great. Nothing on that list or any list really set off my, 'oh i need to play that' alarm or 'holy geez, best game in a long while' alarm. The closest I came to that was seeing monkey ball on the wii. A weak year of games that was overshadowed by two system releases.

After you pass those parts the new Zelda game is pretty cool. I just got through Death Mountain, and I got to say that was one of the coolest dungeons I've ever played. Gears of War was awesome, though for 65 dollars I was upset that I was able to beat it in under 6 hours. Probably should have just rented it. I got FF XII for Christmas, but I'm not going to play it until I beat Twilight Princess. Really wanted FFVII Dirge of Cerebus for Christmas, but that's how the cookie crumbles.

GoW is better when playing with a friend. But yes after you are like 2 hours into Zelda: TP things start getting fun.
