Let me start off this question by telling a story. Way back when, I had an SNES emulator burned onto a CD-R and some SNES ROMs on another CD-R, and after putting a boot disc into my Dreamcast, I was able to use the SNES emulator to play ROMs.
Now, does anyone know of something like that which will load on a PS2? And will I need a boot disc for that too?

without mods the closest thing I know is hd loader or hd advance. But I don't think those will do the emulation thing.

I haven't heard of any emulators on PS2... perhaps we all need to do some google research.

as stated by uglyjack, you'll need a mod chip to read these CD-Rs, and then you'd have to find if there have been any emulators ported to the PS2, then it's just a matter of making the bootable disc and having fun. I think the Xbox would be better bet though, since it's been done before to my knowledge.

I know next to nothing about emulation on modern consoles, but remember seeing this site on another forum if it helps: http://imbnes.gamebase.ca/index.htm

Good point Luke. I forgot all about savestates and how the Xbox has a HD and the PS2 has one only through add-on until I read something in another thread about someone saving states on a memory card.
