i replaced the 72-pin connector in my NES and it fixed the blinking power problem, but all the games will still only come up with a green screen. does anyone know what i might be able to do to fix this?

Have you tried all the old tricks? Blowing in them, putting in different depths, putting in a little crooked....etc.

If none of the old tricks work, then I would take it apart again and check the connector. It may not be completely connected, pins may have gotten bent on first use (try this to possibly fix), or it just may be a bad connector (not too common though). I would even try using the old connector to test if the board itself is good, if you can get it to work at all then you know its the connector.

Let me know if that helps at all. Otherwise we can throw some more tips at ya.

hey, thanks for the help so quickly. i tried putting my old 72-pin connector back in, and eventually i was able to get a game to not blink...however, the screen was just solid green like with the new 72-pin connector. Does this mean my NES is bad, or is there still hope? thanks again

I would guess that the board is bad, but I'm no expert. I don't think I have ever even seen a green screen... You could see if there are any bad contacts where the 72-pin connector attaches?

I'm really at a loss of ideas on this one, anyone else got helpful info?

Update I just thought about disabling the lockout chip, has a good chance of helping. Won't hurt anyway. Here's one walkthrough on it.

you can try adjusting the top row of 36 pins on the 72 pin. use a small flathead eyeglass screwdriver and push them all down carefully. some new 72 pins have a few pins not down all the way. if this don't work then you probably have a few circuit board traces not making connection. check all the traces for continuity. i have had a few nes systems with this problem. i found a few traces with no continuity and put a little bit of solder on them and then the nes worked.
