I saw the way the game was played. I wish they could do that with more classics (no not the retarded Bongo controllers). See how the game was side scrolling 2d but with a 3-d effect. We need more classics brought back to life like that. I would definatly buy another DK game if they played it like that but so you control DK vis controller, not drums

I was actually thinking of picking that game up. I'm interested in seeing how it's done. I haven't seen it yet, and like to beat on things :P More 2D is definitely good. I've started to like 3D more than I did when I first started posting here, but your heart lies where you heart lies, know what I mean? I love side-scrolling over all else (besides MGS, man, what a broken record I am!) ...whom http://robertlbryant.com

Donkey Konga is a great game, and very innovative. I'm tired of hearing how "retarded" people think the controller is, how the hell are you going to play a game that relies on sounds without the drums, and the mic in them? without the bongos, this is just some generic side scroller, and no, that doesn't make it good by default. grow up and realize that there is more to games than the graphics or perspective.

I played the game in Japan in a store and liked it.
Last Sunday I purchased it on eBay for 30$, new, complete, incl. shipping. :D :D :D I hope it's delivered on Friday or Saturday.
And Luke is right. How would you control such music games without those Bongos? :? I like the idea. I also like the drum games from Namco in the arcades.

I'll let you know my impressions. I hope it's in the mail tomorrow. :)
In Japan they already have part 3. Perhaps I'll get that, too. As I prefer Japanese music...

I just did not like the concept, maybe it's just me. I am more used to controlling DK via controller rather then this ne concept. Like Mario Sunshine, I just could not get into the new additions as compared to other DK games

Do you talk about Donkey Konga? Donkey Konga is NOT a sidescrolling game, but a music game where you tap your bongos in a certain rhythm. It looks like this: Donkey Kong Jungle Beat is a sidescrolling game you control with the bongos. A very interesting approach I think. Did you mean that game?

I don't know about the US. In Japan they already play part 3. I know most of the songs of the Japanese version, so I'll probably try to get all 3 Japanese titles. :)
Donkey Konga was in the mail today. I tried it and it's big fun! There are also some mini games in there you can play with the bongos. :P
The bongo controllers are a fine gadget. The mic is very very good. It only takes the important sounds. Even if people besides you try to influence your performance it's impossible. Nintendo did a great job I think.

I like it more every day. My wife is also very fond of that game. It gets very hard, though. Everybody who hasn't yet, should try it. :) It's a good fun game and is funnier when more people are around.

so I had a chance to play Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, which is what this thread seems to be actually about, and it rocks. as for not using the controller because you think the drums are lame, you can use the controller. but it's not nearly as fun without the DK Bongos.

^^agreed with Luke. I have had the game, and its hours of fun. I almost beat the game, but it doesn't seem short because after you get gold on all the boards, you can go for platium.

I still need to get golds on the rest of the levels to unlock the second big boss level... 51 crests... I have 47 or something... Sadly, I won't be able to play it for another few months, since my girlfriend has the Cube...
