I wonder why Super Mario Land was only made for gameboy, does anyone think that it would be a hit if it was made for NES or SNES? I also think that Super Mario Land 1 was pretty much the same as SMB1. Wario was the bad guy in the second game, was that better than Koopa? :?
Actually, not all was thinking. Some was plotting, some was planning, and finally the explaining of my plan which I plotted after I thought of it.

The game is too plain, bad graphics and sound. The control of Mario is not as good as the nes/snes series. The second part looks like a game for children and is boring. Well, SML is a nice game to spend a pair of hours when you don't know what to do!

I think it would sell good, but mainly because it's Mario. It's been a while since I played that, though. I never played the second one, didn't even really know there was one. Learn something new everyday! As far as Wario being better than Bowser? Never. I don't even like Wario that much. He just confuses me. :D http://robertlbryant.com

i think the reson they made super mario land for gameboy was because they wanted something different for gameboy. i have only just got super mario land for gameboy so i havent had a chance to play it much. but from what i have played it seems very similar to smb. i would say they wanted a similar game with different levels so ppl would get it because it is something different.

Yes, all the Game Boy remakes of classic characters had a slightly different feel to them. I believe Super Mario Land was packaged with the Game Boy, if I remember right. They liked to have Mario packaged with their systems. He was their sort of mascot. That probably had something to do with it, also. http://robertlbryant.com

the goal was likely to draw mobile games to the nintendo consoles, 'Hey this Mario game is cool. What? there are more of his games on this NES thing? I should buy one of those!'

No, I believe the Game Boy was originally packaged with Tetris-- one of the best games for the unit. Dr. Mario is another one that plays well on the Gameboy, though I usually like to play Dr. Mario multi-player instead... -- Derek

Yes the first Wario Land is actually SML3. I got it the week it was released all those years ago.

They also made a Wario Land for Virtual Boy that was originally officially part of the series, but we know how Nintendo feels about the VB now... As for SML, I don't consider it part of the Mario franchise, personally. It feels like a hack. Dumb music, sloppy control....even the graphics were off.

I remember beating Mario Land 4 like 2 years ago, I still have it and play it. To bad Wario World turned out to be a bit of a failure.

I like Mario Land 2. It was my favorite GameBoy game. My 6-year-old step cousin lost it and I wasn't too happy about that.
coming in soon and stuff... This is NES-dude except now, I'm PG-13! OMG!

I like using the bunny ears, that helped a lot in the levels. Also, on the above post, I meant I beat Wario Land 4, not Mario Land 4

hey, which game is this. It looks very much like Mario 3, but I am damn sure that there were no such stages like that in actual Mario 3. Is this just an image trick? If the game actually exists, then what is it called?

That's Mario 3... but world 1 looks different... The design looks rather like World 4, but the level structure is different when I remember right. Where do you have that picture from? Perhaps somebody made it up? Or it's a hacked emulator version with new level designs or so? :?
It somehow seems familiar, though... I haven't played Mario 3 for years... (except a very short time on an emulator)

The pic is from Visjoners sig (see previous page of this thread). It's probably from a SMB3 hack. I've played a couple with altered map screens. Could PM Visjoner to find out but I don't think he's been around since December.
