I do belive that is the Famicom Disk System (FDS). It was an add on to the Japanese Famicom (their version of the NES) that allowed games to be downloaded or bought in disk form. They did have .wav sounds on them, and were utilized by games such as Metroid.

My List. Remember, everything can be bought, for a price.

The big problem with them is that the belt inside the drive wears out quickly and crumbles away... :(

if it's nothing too non-standard, you could replace it with a rubber band :) I've seen that done before.

Just an interesting note on the disk system, I was just at NESPlayer and I found out that about half of the games for it were pirates and about half the pirates were pornographic. It fleurs me to think that people use to enjoy 8-bit porn...

Yes, there were "pornographic" games, if you consider such so. :P
There was also a lot of porn on th C64 and stuff.
I don't know what's so interesting about that, but now, as a collector, I'd like to find such.

Can you get a FDS to work with an NES? I'd love to make use of my mystery port on the bottom of mine as well as play japanese disk games.

If I ever get an FDS, I'll probably get a Twin Famicom first, as it has an FDS Built-in.

Now you're playing with power!
