I'm supposed to be working now, but instead I'm here :)

I'm stationed in Yokosuka Japan at the naval base about 40 miles south of Tokyo. My household goods (my stuff) gets here in less than a week including my 4 NES, 2 SNES, 3 Genesis, Sega CD, PS1, PS2, Xbox systems. I've lost track of how many games I own for each system, but it's a crap load and a half.

Of course I've already started buying and reslling games through ebay. Some take longer to make it to the auctions than others.... :P

Any idea where I can find a famicom / super-famicom rarity guide to help with my dumpster diving and thrift store shopping? I can't really access the one at digitpress at work, but I don't think it has a famicom section, just NES.

Hey man, that's cool! I was in the Marine Corps for four years and was in Mt. Fuji a couple of times... Japan rocks!

As for your question, I haven't browsed this site yet... It's the first time I stumbled on it. You might give this a shot:

Hope this helps!

That's cool. Have fun in Japan. It's a great country for gamers. :) I'm going there in about 3 weeks. :D

Unfortunately I haven't yet found a rarity list for famicom games either. :(

I found a list that allegedly has all the official Japanese releases in it, but it doesn't say anything about rarity. :?
http://www.geocities.co.jp/Playtown-Spade/4875/list/alllist.html

Of course it's in Japanese and it has the dates of release and the former official price of most games.

I picked up a "nintendo block" and a "famicom computer network system" yesterday for around $20 each.

I've seen an orange "nintendo block" (boxed) going on ebay for $600 US but I've never seen the Famicom network modem thingy on there, any idea what it is worth?

Here's a link for the "block":

I don't know what it's worth, but I know I'd definitely love to have one.

I think it's worth more than what you payed at least. :)

if you're in Japan you gotta check out Super potato in the Akihabara district, and Osaka's Den Den Town has the original super potato store.

this store is known for for the best stock of old consols and games.

(To find Super Potato, head towards the Club Sega arcade beside Akihabara station, and then walk down the sidestreet beside the arcade, and then hang a right at the first intersection. Walk one minute down the street and you'll be able to find the store. Remember, listen for the music!) more info check this link:

I want to go there so bad... I really want a Nec Core Grafx II system...

I was just in Akihabra this weekend aimlessly wandering about. I couldn't find any old-school stuff, but didn't wander by the side street.

Next time I go up there, I'll post some pictures up for you guys.
