Well, I've been here a while, but seeing as I don't really take too many pictures of myself...

My name is Adrian, but most of my friends refer to me as "man" and "dude". I live in the Upper Penninsula of Michigan (51st state pretty much). I'm 6'1" and 235 lb. My hobbies (beyond gaming) are playing bass trombone, participating on the local high school bowl team (Quiz bowl), and collecting decent flicks. I'm currently in my senior (12th) year of school and I intend on pursuing a career in physics, preferrably quantum (no joke). My NES collection is at 175 right now and I came to NESFILES as I was in search of those with a similar interest.

My List. Remember, everything can be bought, for a price.

Hello! I'm newly registered, thought I might as well write a bit about myself! :)
As I mentioned in my first post, my English is not the best but I'm trying! :P
Please correct me if I make huge mistakes in my posts. It's the only way of learning, right?

The name's Gina, I'm 19 years old and I live in Sweden.
I'm 166 cm tall, and weigh about 60 kg.
I'm blonde, I have this fluffy 80's kind of haircut, with lots and lots of hairspray, I have a bit of an 80's fever..
I like hanging out with my friends, playing video games, dancing and listening to music. My favourite kind of music is Eurobeat, italo-disco, techno, J-pop.. Well, I listen to many different kinds of music actually.. :P
My favourite NES games are: Maniac Mansion, Super Mario Bros 1, 2 AND 3! I also like Blades of Steel although sportsgames are usually not very much my taste.. Oooh and Rad Racer, I like that one too! Hmm I almost forgot to mention that wacky one, Mario Bros..you know the one with the crabs and flies and the icemachine.. the one that never ends I think.. ^^

Well well, that's enough about me!

I'm Joe(if you couldn't tell from my username) and I'm 14. I enjoy NES and my Playstation2. Can't wait for the PS3! Only $500 to go! LOL. I have had an NES before but sadly enough I sold it when I was about 10 or 11. I thought I didn't want it anymore. But now here I am: a 14 year old boy who loves video games but has no NES. How sad. Anyway, like I said I love video games. I've been playing them ever since I was about 4 years old. So I have been playing for about 10 years. I am currently a freshman in High School. Fresh meat as some of the seniors call us. I am kind of a computer nerd. I love rock music. I can't stand rap. The closest thing that comes to rap that I listen to is Gorillaz newest album Demon Days. Well, I know all of you are probably sick of reading my bio but hey that is what this thread is for. Well, I go now. Bye!

Well thanks I think. Even though I'm not entirely sure why I'm thanking you. I'm glad you feel that way? I'm like a role model now! LOL

Hi, my name is Danny, and I'm a NES-aholic :P

I'm 20, I work for an ISP in Val-d'Or, Quebec
I play electric guitar, I love heavy metal music! Metallic, Iron Maiden, etc.

I shave my head, like to wear clothes with retro-stuff on it (like one of my tees has a mario on it :))

Life is simple over here, we go out to bars, hang out with my friends, and...most of all...play video games :D

I found out about this site looking for some walkthroughs for NES games and I really liked looking at the forums here, so I decided to join.

Happy I did ;)

My webpage is www.100abris.com also a forum, but it's in french :P

My nick is Guitarboy if anyone is interested :)

Well, I'm not sure but I could just be pushing the flag up the "oldest" flagpole here. I'm 31. Married very happily with two sons aged 18 months and 1 week (yes, one week today!). I have been a big fan of NES 8-bit since I can remember glueing my eyes to the screen to figure out the pixels that made up the blocks in Zelda. If I'd have known then that today I would be able to just run the Zelda ROM in an emulator on a PC and disassemble it and find the tiles verbatim, I probably still would have spent those many hours playing! My feelings are it was a sad day when 3-d [first-person shooter? bleccch!] gaming took over the world and 2-d platformers were left struggling for breath. To that end I join the fray here today with a quest...

I have been amazed by the quantity of technical information available today for NES, the emulators, the in-depth descriptions of programming it, etc. So, as I was looking into all of it and re-living my youth (and at the same time getting my oldest son almost as hooked as I was) by playing SMB on my PC, I decided to try my hand at writing a game.

That was where the fun started and soon ended for two reasons

1. I have almost no artistic talent and didn't want to just do ROM hacks [though I did have some fun with my headless Mario], and

2. I found the wealth of tools available lacking in their consistency, coherency, or whatever you want to call it. I was spending way too much time trying to figure out how to get the right tool to do the right job.

So, my ten years of software engineering professional experience prevailed and I decided to create a tool...partly to help myself accomplish the game creation goal but then unselfishly I realized it quite possibly could help others.

I even came up with a catchy name...NESICIDE -- the NES Incredibly Cool Integrated Development Environment.

My vision for this tool is for it to be a complete development environment for NES running in Windows. So far I have it working good enough to generate palettes, pattern tiles, attribute- and name-tables. It has an integrated sourcecode editor, export features for exporting any artifact from the tool in either source or assembled binary format. It also has a "ROM snooper" that allows those of you who "legally" can to load a ROM file and go trolling for pattern tiles. I have not even touched the music/sfx side of things yet, so that is where I'll ask the burning question:

Is there any interest out there in an IDE for NES development? I would be more than willing to fire off a copy of the work in progress to any interested parties.

Thanks, and I look forward to any replies. Keep gaming.

Welcome to the forums!

In regards to NESICIDE's question, yeah, I'd be interested in a full IDE for NES. I don't really get enough time to actually learn how to program for the NES right now, but I'm hoping I'll get more time in the future. I've been (slowly) studying 6502, and I've been trying to learn other languages. I'm a n00b in programming, and I'm only in my second year at my community college. Unfortunately, the college I'm attending seems to be lacking in some areas. I do what I can though ;) Anyway, I'm babbling now, so I'd definitely be interested in seeing what you have done.
