Here we go. I thread that you can talk about a movie you saw, and say what you thought of it. Also, talk about upcoming movies, or even talk about older movies. (also, if you talk about a newer movie, please put long spaces, and post *Spoiler*) So, I'll start it off. What did you guys (and girls) think about Batman Begins. I thought it was done very well, and a great way to start the series over again fresh.

I will now write about my favourite movie. It's over two hours long. It has only about 40 minutes of dialogue. The first line of dialogue is spoken by a stewardess, 25 minutes and 38 seconds into the film. It was revolutionary. It was made in 1968. It looks like a very high-budget movie from the late 80s-early 90s. It has been parodied countless times. It has been parodied many times by the Simpsons alone. It broke the mold of "spaghetti western" style sci-fi by being serious, and above all, physically accurate. It has been reported to have influenced the design of early NASA shuttles. It was loosely based off Arthur C. Clarke's "The Sentinel". Stanley Kubrick wrote the screenplay while Clarke wrote the book. They discussed eachothers' work throughout the writing process. It is #22 on the American Film Institute's (AFI) list of the top 100 movies of all time. "Open the pod bay doors, HAL." is #78 on the AFIs list of top 100 movie quotes of all time. It's 2001: A Space Odyssey and if you have never seen it, watch it at your earliest convenience. And while you are watching it, think of the things I wrote in the sentences above. Simply incredible.

this was a good idea. they should "sticky" it. (they=the mods) Im a big batman nut. Im even getting a batman tattoo in a few months. anyways, I dont think the new batman movie should be what happens before the first batman movie that came out in 1989 with Jack Nicholson and Michael Keaton because nothing in the new one even leads into the 1989 one. (I went and got my batman movie collection out. lol) and this might be a spoiler so if you dont want to know stop reading now... okay, you must wanna know. in the new batman, its set in today times. I mean, christ, the ppl where all walking around with tiny cell phones. the 1989 batman movie took place when?! oh my, take a wild guess?! 1989! meaning no '04 and '03 cars and ppl with verizon wireless cell phones. so unless batman some how discovered time travel in his bat cave this doesnt add up. that is ONE, just ONE, of MANY things that dont add up. Im-a-batman-nut

speaking of comic book heroes: any of you guys heard of Troma Inc.? These guys can make movies. Their flagship movie: the Toxic Avenger ( an R-rated horror comedy film which I've previously mentioned) is their most famous. They even spawned a cartoon (with NES Game) The Toxic Crusaders!

The older movies I'd most recommend are the whole Clint Eastwood spaghetti western series, especially the Good,The Bad and the Ugly. A lot of younger viewers are probably gonna think "hmmm..westerns, boring", but the movies transcend the whole atmosphere of the west into something I personally could watch a million times over. There's something about the whole "man with no name" charachter that just grabs you, it's the whole quiet nature of the guy and the ruthless violence he deals out at a heartbeat. I think if you've had a bad day...these movies rule, you'll feel better within minutes of putting them in.
Next would be all the old Vincent Price horror movies. I feel he is quite overlooked today. The creepy atmosphere he could create with but a look is unmatchable. If your a fan of horror movies that are the non-gory type, built on plot instead of sliced-up people then you can't go wrong with something like House on Haunted Hill or Masque of the Red Death.

EvilNes Have you ever seen Teenage Cat Girls In Heat? (it's by Troma movies). I know what the rest of you are thinking, it's NOT PORN. It's just a really horribly made movie. The girls are so far from looking teenage it's rediculous. I guess 35 is the new 16.
To Everyone Else As a movie recommendation I recommend....
Cannibal : The Musical
It's Trey Parker's first movie (when he was known as Juan Schwartz). It's great. I have all the songs on my MP3 player! Here's a little sampling of his musical genius...From the song That's All I'm Asking For
[Noon] I know that there's more to life than women. I just can't seem to figure out what else there is. I don't need it every night, every morning would be just fine. A little sex, that's all I'm askin' for. That's all I'm askin' for!
[Miners] That's all he's askin' for!
[Noon] Something I can test, a gal would suit me best. I got a thing to use, I know what to use it for. A girl I can love, and kiss, and hold, and fu... That's all I'm askin' for! I've tried to watch a 2001 A Space Odessy but I kept falling a sleep. I like Full Metal Jacket though..... :D http://www.myspace.com/jennikisaI need friends.... I had to nix Tom. He wasn't really my friend. His smile "mocked" me.

I'll have to watch Batman Begins sometime together with my wife, because Ken Watanabe, a Japanese actor she likes very much is playing a bad guy in there. :)
The last movies I saw and can recommend are Episode 3 :) and Team America. That movie's so stupid, it's becoming good again.

The Hours sounds familiar...can't place it at the moment. House of Flying Daggers was awesome I thought. Cool effects, charachters, scenery and great story. The fact it had some really hot oriental women in it was good too.... :D

Manuel..you'll love it! I found it much better than Hero or Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. The scenery espeacially is so awesome...there's one scene where autumn changes to winter during a battle and...well, no spoilers. It's just a really well-made movie that will invoke every emotion, that's the best way to put it. :)

I might as well make some reccomendations.
THE WILD ONE Classic film starring a young Marlon Brando as a leader of a motorcycle gang which invades a small town.
A CLOCKWORK ORANGE Based on Anthony Burgess' book and one of the better book to film adaptations. Kubrick's direction is as spot on as ever.
CITY OF GOD True story of a young man growing up in the notorious slums of Rio de Janiero.
ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA Classic gangster (not the usual mindless violence film) film starring De Niro.
MIDNIGHT COWBOY Small time conman (Dustin Hoffman) teams up with a naive "cowboy" (Jon Voight) who is convinced he's the salvation of many old new york spinsters.
LA HAINE Set in the slums of Paris, it deals with France's intolerance to outsiders.
Other reccomendations- can't be bothered going into detail STRAY DOG SEVEN SAMURAI BATMAN (the one with adam west - pure hilarity) Any Humphry Bogart film.
I'll shut up now.
