I've been a Sega Sage ever since 1990. Although I've played it for 15 years now, my first game console was NES, but I felt Sega Genesis was a lot more fun. I'm mainly an RPG Sage as well, but Streets of Rage for Sega was nice too... I also am a RPG sage also, prefer the older games.

An "RPG Sage"... on the Genesis?
I really didn't think the Genesis was a very "RPG heavy" console, but I did enjoy 'Phantasy Star IV' thoroughly (need to finish 'PSII' some time also).
I didn't really play any other RPG's except for maybe 'Sword of Vermilion', which is okay.

The king of all early 90's "adventure" titles graced the Genesis though, in the form of 'Landstalker'. Most of my fondest memories of it come from "shooters", and "strategy" games.

I've also been playing Genesis since 1990 also, and having beaten over 80 games for it. I think that nearly qualifies me as a "Sega Sage" (or at least a "Sega Road Scholar").

Did I call this one or what? Man I'm good.

Believe it or not, there are great RPG's on consoles that were not made by Nintendo. 'Phantasy Star IV' is a good match for 'Final Fantasy III (6)' any time (especially because it continues the storyline started by the first two games in the series).

I would also like to clearly state that I think the PS1 might have the strongest RPG library of all time. I haven't played through enough SNES RPG's yet to make a firm decision, but right now 'Earthbound' is starting to make me a "non-believer".

What other RPGs could you recommend for the Genesis?
I got one yesterday together with Phantasy Star.

Whaaat?....sure the Genesis had some great RPG's...but not enough of them...for an RPG fan I think...Iv'e been playing Sega RPG's since Phantasy Star on the Master System, and hold them very dear...but when the Snes came out...a new high water mark was set with this genre...and yeah PS1 did have an awesome RPG line up...but that's a diffrent generation...

Wait a second... that picture in the lower left hand corner... That game was craptastic! RPG Sage my eye...

However, the Genesis did host a few RPGs that were extremely innovative... There's one in particular that I'm thinking of, but I can't think of it right now...

Hm... I'm highly skeptical of the new game. It seems a little Final Fantasy-ish. And if there's one thing that the previous PS games have done best, it's keep it's keeping their individuality.

Phantasy Star was a good series for the Genesis. I like Sword of Vermillion too.

Thems were the days...
anyways, the sega for me was like a console with the more violent games. I remember sneaking a few games from my friends houses and playing them , Like Mortal Kombat 3 and my first ever import, "Hokuto no Ken" which was "Last Battle" here in america. If you punched an enemy , he didnt fly off the screeen, but instead his head , then his body will implode.

I blame the genesis for my twisted youth. (not really :P)

I do, model 1 Sega CD, and 32x. When attached to a model 1 Genesis, it's a site to behold. I think there might be a photo on here somewhere...
