It would still be linear. Here's an example: Name - User A Title - Strategist Rank - Apprentice The title would be more of a 'this is basically what I'm into' kind of thing. Then the ranking denotes how much you interact with the site. Just an idea, though.

I don't believe the Title thing can be done with phpBB-- maybe with a mod, but I've had bad luck implementing some mods. I like the idea of creating a list of cool words for ranks. Once we have a good list, maybe I'll create a poll so we can vote on a ranking system. Thanks. -- Derek

Why not implement something like they've got over at ATS? They use a point system that is closely tied in with the number of posts made by users... You get so many points per post (thread) and so many points for replying and then the thread starter get so many pints for each reply... In return for informative and useful posts you are awarded points that you can "spend" in the "ATS Store"... in this store you can "buy" things like custom titles, custom backgrounds, access to certain parts of the forum, ETC... You might want to contact the webmaster to figure out how to implement something like this. (Or, I could ask for you)...

the only thing so far i dotn like is ive seen people with a good amount of posts in koopa troopa i think u should add more like a ranking per 50

it doesn't take that many posts to get past Koopa Troopa, just use your brain and think of things, the board has only been up a month and Roth and I both have over 600 posts, all of them quality relevant posts. don't just expect to fly through the rankings.

Please, don't post garbage posts on the forums, faille. "me too" kinda posts, etc., add no new content and just clutter the forums. Please post only if you have a new idea of sorts to share. As I already stated somewhere before (hello, I'm the German guy), the ranking structure is good as it is now.
It is good to "stick" in a rank for some time. If you have a new rank every 50 posts, it will be no fun anymore.
But I have another question, which isn't relevant now, but could become relevant in the future.
Will "Bowser" be the end?
Should we make something above Bowser for e.g. 5000 posts?
And what could this be? Mario or something? (At least Mario always beats Bowser if everythings goes right. :wink: )

oh, you want to replace the Goomba and Koopa Troopa rankings? I'm pretty sure everyone here is cool with them as they are, the SMB enemies are pretty good icons, most games know them rather well. and they serve the purpose of ranking just nicely. it would be hard to get the same identification from MegaMan enemies or really any other game for that matter. There was a fair bit of discussion on the topic actually.
