It has a day to go, and the bid is at $8000 already. That's too high for 2000 games. I wonder if the auction is going to end up like that Dracula one that was posted on these forums with a non-paying bidder.

I wish I had $8,000 to blow on video games. I think this is where a limitless creditcard comes in hand.

He said he has about 800 or something unique games, out of 2000. That means there are a lot of doubles, which means there are a LOT of common games. The value comes in the convenience. Instant collection. But that's no fun, right?

When valuing my NES collection according to Digital Press, I discovered that most NES games are $3 or more, $2 being a fairly uncommon figure, and only the most retardedly common games (SMB/DH) are $1 Many of these are SNES and N64 games, which rarely go below $5, I think it's a good deal. Not that I could ever afford anything of that sort in a single lot, but I don't think it's incredibly high priced... After all, he does list 3 copies of Chrono Trigger, that's $150 right there in three carts.

I agree it's a decent price, but when you buy in bulk like that, you normally expect to save a lot. I've seen auctions for 700 games go for just over $3/game. We'll see where the auction ends up when it's done. Especially since this is probably getting a lot of attention. If the winner has patience, or is already an established dealer on eBay, he/she could make a lot of money selling them one by one. Especially with the "shipping/handling" rates that are common on eBay these days.
