Yup. I had a Sega CD back when I was about 10 or 11 when they were brand new. I didnt like it, The only games I even liked it on it was Heart of the Alien and Masked Rider. I still have it but no hook ups for it. Most of the games IMO are Mediocre. I didnt even like Sonic CD.

Hows th loading time? If your Genesis has an expansion port then any Sega CD will work. The first generation model will fit a Model 2 Genesis. And of course a model 2 Sega CD will fit a Model 1 Genesis. It may look funny but it will work. However, it shouldn't be a problem to find either one on ebay.

Actually, a Genesis 2 doesn't fit on a SegaCD 1. there's no place for the "feet" on the bottom of the Genesis to go in to. Unless I just didn't pay much attention when I attempted it.

I've actually read conflicting things, however I have read where it has been done. So I'm not sure. I could attempt it. If I were to aquire a Model 1 Sega CD it would be not much of a risk since I own both a Model 2 and Model 1 Genesis.

Seems I've even seen a picture of it in the past. But I can't find anything about it now. Just stories of people doing it.

Just tested it. It plugs together and all, but the Genesis 2 doesn't sit flat. My camera is arse, so I didn't bother taking a photo.

Isn't there some sort of bracket that screws to the bottom of the Genesis?

"Super Hampster" wrote:Isn't there some sort of bracket that screws to the bottom of the Genesis? There is, but I'm not sure how that would help this situation. the issue is that the Genesis 2 already sits too high for it to properly connect to the slot. adding something else in there would only further raise the height.

I never had a Sega CD until recently (always owned a Genesis..) I happen to find a CDX, which is a combo of the cart and cd system...its pretty lame though...I only have Final Fight (which has an awesome soundtrack by the way...) and Silpheed...the only thing I can appraciate about this console is the fact that you can play your carts usin the RCA cables instead of the rf output...which really cleans up undesired effects on my lcd..oh yeah and you could use batteries on this thing and use it as a discman...pretty intresting..

yeah the Sega cd really is just meant for titles that would never fit in a cart...graphics however are really not an improvement over the Genesis (albeit full motion video was possible and the improved memory helped for perhaps better frame rates which allowed for even smooth lookin early poly graphics..silpheed is a perfect example..)...color palletes and resolution are the same..audio is a whole other department though...
