My friend dowloaded it, but there were no english subtitles.

Still...there's so much action and the movie is so great, we watched it 4 times already! ;)

if you are using windows media player I can give you the subtitles, all that needs to be done is place them in the same folder as the movie, and have it named the exact same as the movie (minus of course the .mpg or .avi)

PM your email if you want it.

yeah.. it's true... mine didn't show the subs.. but when i played it on my dreamcast,, with the mpeg files.. it showed the subs. but i downloaded another one with the subs.. but when i burned it for dVd. it don't have subs...

Well, I bought the english release this morning, I'll update this post with my thoughts when I watch it after work tonight (probably after midnight EST)

OK, I've just finished watching it.

Firstly, the english voice acting is great. Not perfect, but great. No reason to use the subtitles at all, unless you just want to be a 'hardcore otaku' (AKA dumbass)

The whole story of the thing is pretty good. Lots of action all the time.

but since I suck at explaining things, you Americans are lucky...

Best Buy sells the Special Edition (only one that exists, to my knowledge) for $15

EB has it for $20

Best price I could find in Canada was $25.99

I bought the japanese with english subtitles off of ebay not long ago. I thought it was awesome, and felt really cool having it....
...then literally three days later the english dub version came out....
...I no longer felt cool....
...I felt like a [censored] idiot...

Yes better than Tidus...but not better than Crono or....Anyone from the Chrono Series or anything....
Cloud is overrated.
So is Sephiroth.
Still a good game...Still overrated.
all i can say is the movie was pretty sweet.

Cloud's overrated now, because we're used to angsty-type characters. Back when he came out, chronically hating yourself was kind of a new thing, ignoring French philosophers. By today's standards, though, he's just another emo kid...

The way I see it, he's like the Gillman from Creature From The Black Lagoon. Sure, you can tell he's rubber, but damn, they did a good job, didn't they?

I thought that this was a terrible film. I watched the whole thing, all the way through, and the plot is awful. A lot of it is very pretty, but a lot of it isn't. The children are perhaps very well animated etc by current standards, but they still don't look or move anything like real people. The adults are better. One thing that ruined it for me, was the huge amount of fight sequence. By the time it got to the big finale, the fight with Sephiroth, it was just another fight, nothing spectacular.

I just rented it yesterday. As much of a Final Fantasy fan I am, I have not played FFVII. I've seen a friend play, but that's it.

How lost will I be in the movie if I haven't seen the FFVII ending?

I loved this movie. I haven't finished FFVII... in fact, I think I was only a few hours into it. The movie has an independant story, but still has the same characters. It's related to the game, but it is not a direct continuation. Although watching the movie will spoil the game ending for you.
