I'm not one of those people who hate Zelda II, but I do like Battle of Olympus better. The soundtrack on that was perfect, and really put you in the game. The Greek Gods with the password feature was really cool, too. I'm not saying it was a complete rip-off at all. "daynum" wrote:They definitely have their differences, but I just think that Battle of Olympus is heavily influenced by Zelda II. Obviously Nintendo didn't feel it was a complete rip off because they licenced it. Exactly. http://robertlbryant.com

That's funny because Zelda II was only my second NES game (after mario/duckhunt) and I had huge trouble figuring out what to do in the beginning. My main problem was that the instruction manual said not to go into caves without a candle. But that's exactly what you had to do to get to the first palace! I learn't a valuable lesson that day: Never read instruction manuals!

"cracked8ball" wrote:Ninja Gaiden - Vice: Project Doom Batman - Shatterhand Zelda 2 - Rambo 'Ninja Gaiden' and 'Vice' are close, however the other two are way off. 'Batman' wasn't original in any way. It just took the standard side-scrolling action affair and based it off a movie license with prettier graphics than the rest of the games in its genre. 'Shatterhand' merely just falls in the same genre. By your comparison 'Kabuki Quantum Fighter' and the 'Power Blade' games would be clones also (they're not). 'Zelda 2' and 'Rambo'? Hardly clones. Their only simularities are their non-linear game play and maybe the experience point numbers that spring up when you kill an enemy. Again, same "genre". Not a "clone". ... And 'Battle of Olympus' is one of the few "superior" clones (although I consider 'Adventure of Link' to be quite good). http://www.playthenes.com
