using this guide http://nintendope.iodized.net/thisoldnes/lock.txt I successfully modded my NES. I didn't do step 13 of the guide (grounding pin 4) and my NES works just fine. when you turn it on without a game in it it doesn't flash. and with a game in it plays just fine. now all I need is a PAL game or 2 so that I have a purpose for the modded NES :D NOTE: I used an extra NES that I picked up at a yardsale for $3 http://www.geocities.com/nes_life = NES_Life http://users.ign.com/collection/campkill1387 = My Collection

yeah, that is a good thing too! but I'd still like to have a PAL game that I wouldn't be able to play with an NTSC console http://www.geocities.com/nes_life = NES_Life http://users.ign.com/collection/campkill1387 = My Collection

I want to do this, and maybe in a while attempt the Stereo sound Mod.

There is no stereo sound mod... it just takes some channels of audio and runs them on one cable, and some others on the other cable... it's NOT stereo sound. and when I say that I wouldn't even bother to do it, you know it's not worth the effort, because I love hacking around in there.

Congrats Commander Campkill! That was my first (and only mod so far) on an NES. It was kinda scary for me, since it was my only NES... wouldn't want to screw that up  I had to have NES-Luke hold my hand while doing it :) Good job man, I personally think it helps play the games better as well... or so it seems to me. Not sure how it would, but the games all worked better after I did that. http://robertlbryant.com

Good job man. It would be cool to play PAL games on if it's NTSC. I may try this at one point, after getting a spare NES and also when I have spare time.
