If nobody tells us that these sites spread viruses, how are we supposed to know?
Did nobody notice it when he went to the site the first time?

O.k., I did some more research and found out the following:

1. The sites www.aroms.com / angelroms.com, www.freeroms.com and www.emuv2.com/index.php contain the same virus. It seems to be connected to some advertisement on the sites.

2. At www.nesworld.tk if I try to download a ROM, they always say "File unavailable"

3. www.pokedaily.com/interactive/download/roms.php only contains generic advertisement anymore.

4. http://bushidov.homelinux.com:8080/games.php and www.haywired.com/romspot/NGames.html don't work.

5. http://atarifun.com/NESroms.html is now www.atarifun.com/nesmain.html.

By the way, I would suggest that you list the sites according to the question how good they are. Many sites contain annoying pop-ups. So, I would suggest the following way:
If one needs a ROM, he should go to www.romnation.net or www.rom-world.com first. They don't have any pop-ups and they have a complete list with games, including these whole country codes ((J), (U), (E) etc.). The only games that are missing, are these ISDA protected ones like the "Mario" games. So, if one can't find the game there or if the ROM doesn't work, he can visit other sites then. www.edgeemu.com is quite good as an alternative, but it needs registration. The protected ROMs may be found on these sites that only list some ROMs without language code etc. For example the "Mario" games can be found at www.theoldcomputer.com/Libarary%27s/Emulation/NES/ROMs/NES_roms_summary%20M-Z.htm
And in this way, I would list the sites according to how good they are.

1. ROMNation, ROM-World
2. ...
3. ...
For protected games: ...

Something like that.

If proper steps are taken to protect yourself, you won't get them.

Step 1 Stop using Internet Explorer.

Step 2 Use Spybot Search & Destroy and install the hosts file. This ensures that sites known for bad behavior will be blocked outright. This generally won't prevent you from going to shady ROM sites, but it will prevent the advertisers, and other hazards connected with them.

Step 3 another precaution that could be taken is that when you Stop using Internet Explorer. you also install Adblock Plus and Filterset.g updater this is similar to the hosts file, but is specific to the browser, not system-wide, and is much more user-friendly.

Of your 129 posts, you've only posted from three separate IP blocks, Don't get over confident in your sense of immunity.

Let's end this now. there is a general warning, if someone wishes to evaluate those sites, I'll happily update the links with descriptions/warnings.

As of this point in time, this thread is locked, link evaluations can be sent to myself or manuel via PM. If the PMs use a respectful wording, I'll update the post.

Denny, if you still have problems, PM me.
