There seems to be a little buzz about the Phillips CD-i going around the forums as of late. Here is a page that has a picture of the system, a little background on it, and the system specs. It even talk about a Mario game that was released. http://darkwatcher.psxfanatics.com/console/cdi.htm

 Those graphics actually look really good! I need a good working CD-i emulator. Or an actual CD-i. I wonder how history would have changed if Nintendo and Phillips had actually gone through with a callaberated CD console.

I wonder how history would have changed if Nintendo and Phillips had actually gone through with a callaberated CD console. pre-rendered graphics usually do look good... but they don't move, or interact very well. as for a CD-I emulator, the link that was posted states that there is only one, and it only plays a single game. an actual CD-I? good luck, they're RARE. and the gaming industry is filled with IFs, there have been so many deals and the like fall through over the years that I just usually ignore most of them until they happen. the Playstation started out as a CD-ROM for the SNES, but then it fell through and we got that instead.

I sometimes see them on eBay and some Japanese auctions and they are not that expensive.

Some people like them as it seems. But the majority hates the games. You'll probably have to try them for yourself to see.
As a collector's item for a Zelda lover the games might be worth owning.

The CD-I wasn't all that good because of the lack games. But that baby had so much power kind of like the XBOX but back in that era.
