Welp, it was either start yet another Gamecube topic, or add to one which hadn't been posted in for ages, so I figured I'd pick the latter and hope it was the lesser of two evils!

I was just wondering if anyone else had modded their Gamecube, either internally or externally.

I myself got one of those XenoGC chips a while back, since it claimed easy installation (no wires), and for just $20, it sounded like a great deal. This was, of course, before I realized it's almost smaller than a postage stamp, and my soldering iron just didn't seem equipped to deal with such tiny and close-together solder points. I eventually got it soldered in place, but turning the 'cube on showed no activity lights on the chip, so upon attempting to desolder to try again, I accidently tore one of the leads it needed, making it near useless to try installing again unless I used wires to connect it (which I don't see ever happening due to the extreme closeness of the solder points). Fortunately for me, the torn lead wasn't a connection between two points, and the 'cube still works fine.

Those Viper chips seem a bit easier though, since they actually use wires and some seemingly larger solder points on the other side of the board. They're a bit pricier, though. Has anyone installed one of those?
