A Best Buy employee who wishes to remain anonymous sent in the above pre-launch Wii setup for the retailer including a 22-page memo documenting which stores will participate in the promotion. The letter, written by VMSM (third-party Nintendo marketer?) and addressed to "Best Buy Retail Management," names 249 participating stores and includes installation instructions for two, four-foot "Coming Soon" billboards with one count-down clock. Billboards are expected to hit stores on November 1.
While it looks big, keep in mind those white boxes could denote existing inventory. More interesting, however, is the display copy: "When you hit a drum, swing a raquet or a bat, why should you have to press a button?" A new slogan that perhaps effectively communicates Wii's take on the game interface.

Well, I went to Ebgames last night with a friend, and I played a Wii! Any doubts I had about the Wii are gone! The controller was great. Very confortable, and work great! I only was able to play Excite Truck but it was great. One of the workers there was really nice, and was talking all about the Wii, and how its really getting everyone into gaming like his younger daughters. Anyone interested in the Wii, go to your local game stores, and check if they have Wii demos. I also went to Target and played a PS3. The graphics were WOW! They were really crisp and clear. I played some racing game. Had no clue as to what it was. I played a race, and I hit dead straight into a wall, and there was no rumble. It felt....strange without a rumble. I graphics though were really great. Back on topic though, anyone else get to play a Wii? What are your thoughts if you have.

You probably played Ridge Racer 7, which, from the videos I've seen, looks exactly the same as the year old Ridge Racer 6 on the 360. As far as looking good, nothing in existence comes close in any way, shape, or form to Gears of War on the 360. As for the Wii controls, I'm hearing of more and more people having problems with them. But I guess I'll have to hope for a demo unit in my EB soon.

I can't wait for the Wii demo unit's to come here! All I seen so far for Wii is a Video set up at Wal-Mart showing the Features of the Wii. No Wii unit there. :( Namco Working on 30+ Wii Games, Only 10 titles combined for PS3/X-360Quote:I really like what I'm seeing with regard to early 3rd party support for Nintendo's system. You would think that after the debacle developers got themselves into with regard to most of their GameCube games - ie selling 10-40% of PS2/Xbox totals on GCN - that developers would try the wait-and-see approach with the Wii - in other words, only making games for the Wii if it sells. Given Nintendo's audience's track record in that regard, I wouldn't bank on my games selling if I were a developer, either. It's no secret that developers are rarely loyal and jump ship to whatever platform is most successful. Apparently, even after last generation, a lot of big-name developers are at least pretty sure that the Wii will be a success - either that, or Nintendo is supplying them with lots of incentive. Namco's ridiculous 30+ games announcement is another example of this. Here's to hoping Nintendo owners actually buy 3rd party games this time around. http://www.nintendojo.com/infocus/view_item.php?1163272231

Bump! Last night I went to EBgames. I saw the Wii there I walked up to the Demo unit and spent a good long while looking at the system. I fell in love with it. It is so sexy, more sexier then me I may add. I asked them "May I please try the Wii"? They told me "Do you have a Credit Card?" I thought to myself and those rumors of Gamestop in the States making you use a Credit Catd were true. Someone in line asked how come he needs a Credit card? I jumped in and said "Just incase if you some how damge the system or steal the Wiimote". I can't wait...Christmas is soon, I will hold my Wii in my arms, And spend many many hours with Zelda TP and DBZ....

Now that I've spent some days with the Wii I can draw some resume. That is, I haven't had so much fun for quite a time now.
We only have two games (Wii Sports and Rayman) until now, but those are great. The controls in Wii Sports are very good. The Wii remote is very responsive and the movements are transmitted in real time. The longer you play the better you get at most sports. I have improved quite a bit in Tennis and Golf (and also the other sports). The game has a good learning curve. Raving Rabbids is cool, too. Some mini games repeat themselves (i.e. there are sometimes 2 or more variants of the same game), but that's ok I guess. Most of the games take good advantage of the Wii remote controls. They are quite intuitive. Those games are especially good when somebody is watching. :P I'd give them both a solid 8 (out of 10). I'd love to try the multiplayer modes, but I still haven't got my Wii remote (the one that comes with Wii Play).
The Photo channel is nice, too. I've used it several times already to show lots of photos to family and friends. It's much more convenient than watching photos on the computer or on a DVD player. 4 megapixel photos take up to 5 seconds to load on my DVD player, but the Wii displays them in like 0.1 second. That's nice and I'll definitely use it for showing photos again.
The Mii channel can be addictive. Until now we have made Miis for evey member of the family and some friends of the family. We haven't made any celebrity Miis yet, though... That's just a matter of time.
Load times are ok. There are some seconds, but that's ok. Load times shouldn't be much longer, or I'd be put off.
What takes too long in my eyes are internet connections. I guess the internet was slow because everybody tried it out at once and Nintendo's servers are overloaded... or I hope so. I hope the connection goes a bit faster than it is these days.
So I think Wii is a great system. It's quiet, small, has very low power consumption and looks nice. Now I hope for many good games (not only party games, though), a freeloader and cheaper VC games (even if it's Nintendo... 5-10$ is too much for my taste).
edit: Until now we did not have any accidents, dropped Wii remotes, broken TVs or something like that.

Hier guys, I´m posting this from my sister´s Wii. Writing with the Wii remote takes some time, but it´s not that bad when you get used to it. Youtube and wiicade.com also work. Nice. :o

It takes some time, but you get faster when you use it more often. Compared to using a keyboard it's still very slow, though...

"Aaron" wrote:"Wii Component Cables Sold Online Only" That stinks. I think i'll have to get some soon in anticipation of getting a compatabile TV, so not to face problems later. I notice some people have been posting Wii friend codes or console codes - what are these, exactly? Are they the same idea behind the DS's where you need a friend code to play someone or something? :?

Thanks for that Luke. I have a couple of "n00b" questions with regards to the wii. Firstly, how nessercary is it to buy one of the memory card things? What I mean by this is, could I play and save straight from the box, without one of these cards? I understand there's some kind of internal memory?
Secondly: Using the virtual console, would I only be able to buy games released in Europe? Just as somebody in the US could only buy NTSC games? The reason I ask is I would like to buy some SNES games that were only released in the NTSC format.
I can't find a simple answer anywhere. Thanks in advance.

You don't need a memory card. All will be saved within the Wii's internal memory. That's 512MB. When that is full you need SD cards, which are cheap though. :)
You can only buy Virtual Console games from your region. :(

Yes, lots of cameras have SD cards. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital_CardYou can buy them cheap off amazon. If you want US Virtual Console games you'll have to import a Wii I guess...
