Sorry NES Luke if it's in the wrong forum. I figured if it's about PS2, it belongs in the modern system portion of this board. I remember a while back hearing that PS2 can in fact improve the graphics of PS1 games. I noticed that when I load the system w/out a game, I am able to go to the "system" menu. It has the model # and some options. Now on the disc speed it has "normal" and "fast" (what does this do?) and another option where I think it "smoothes" the pixels? Sorry if I seem a dunce with this. Does this visibly make the graphics better for both generations of games? I also notice it doesn't save the changes that I make. I have to reboot the system with no game and make the changes before I play them.

I have to reboot the system with no game and make the changes before I play them. the graphical improvements aren't too special. the "smooth" option enables bilinear filtering on the textures, similar to enabling bilinear filtering in an NES emulator, except it does it on the textures that are mapped over the 3D models, rather than the flat sprites. the disc speed does improve load times on PS1 games, but it also causes some incompatibilites with some. it doesn't save the setting because of the incompatibilites with some games.

With no intentions of playing them... then I came to my senses right about the time I posted.... Needless to say I decided I have to play them. Who could posess a game and then not play it? What was I thinking!!! : One of our K-marts are closing 75% - 90% off!!!!!!! starting tomorrow!!!! There is a bunch of DS and other stuff... Im gonna get there early and try to buy as much as i can afford... You all get first dibs. trades anyone?? I'll post the list when/if i get anything good.
