Okay so, back in the day when say...the Nintendo 64 was popular were some of the games that are considered classics for it now not seem popular back when the N64 was still a living system? Or did they just gather the most popular games they could for it and call them classics to see them that way for the future(now)?
Maybe it's better if I didn't have an avatar so i didn't have to spend all my time making one...

You know what? I tried to read that, and my brain actually hurt. Wow. Did you notice the N64 forum?

I had to nix Tom. He wasn't really my friend. His smile "mocked" me.

I don't know what it's about, but it seems to be N64 related, so I'll move it to the N64 section.

I think what he's trying to say is: Say, when you're young, and you're playing an N64 game and it's not a classic yet but picked someday to be be in classic yellow packaging for people to think about when they were young playing games, is this thought about and picked or is it something happens?

Okay, first, Nesefer, you do know we're joking, right? But... not entirely. It would really be appreciated if you tell us what you actually said. Until then, I'll wing it. Quote:Were some "classic" games for older systems (say, the N64) not popular at the time, or were the most popular games just called classics in order to make them so? Correct me if I'm wrong, nesefer. Now, if that interpretation is indeed correct, this needs to be moved back to general gaming.

I think that is probably what he was trying to ask.... I vote move it back to general gaming as well :)

yeah, move it back. he was using the N64 as an example. i can totally see what he's saying too. seems like games that i see a ton of people owning, never get the "greatest hits" label, yet games i NEVER see anyone owning/buying have it. i don't know if companies say it's a classic/greatest hit so people will buy them or not. i think it's more like if they sell a million copies they're considered a classic or a greatest hit http://www.geocities.com/nes_life = NES_Life http://users.ign.com/collection/campkill1387 = My Collection

When Nintendo started doing the "Player's Choice" thing for the N64 it said right on the label: "Million Seller" Note that I'm not saying that the N64 was the first console to have "Player's Choice" games.
