Yoy would be suprised how many old school games and sysytems can be found in thrift stores. Check out your local Goodwill store. Sometimes they don't have any games, just check back every now and again. It's where my boxed FF1 came from.
Is that Orange County in California? If so check out Laura's House in San Clemente (benefits battered women) sometimes has 50% off everything sales.
Ebay rocks, the secret is to always check the shipping and buy in lots if possible. When looking for specific GB games I've found it cheaper to buy someone's whole collection of system and games for $30 then to buy individual games.

Here in the southeast (not sure how far they are spread now, but they started in Florida I believe) we have a store called Rhino Video Games that has a solid collection of 8-bit games. They also have a buy 2 get 1 free deal on NES games which is nice.
I also use ebay a ton. The trick is to check the shipping and buy lots of games. You can usually get games for $2-3 each if you buy them that way. Ebay is a great tool for retro game collectors if used correctly.

It usually is, but I've gotten great deals on ebay :D ebay aside, I'd say a certain flea market here, or the only good gamestore we have (which, we have 2 of, located across the city from eachother), so, 3 great places to buy games here, basically. thrifts used to be good, but one chain never has anything anymore, and the other one is horribly overpriced. $6 for smb and loose genesis sports titles? pass :?

I actually live in Georgia, but I thought I had read that Rhino was started in Florida and was spreading around the southeast before going nationwide, so I checked around and found their website. Their corporate headquarters is in Gainesville, and they have a list of store locations on their website. Not sure if any are near you, though. www.rhinovideogames.com

Pawn shops, little local videogame shops, thrift stores, etc. I mostly prefer thrift shops (Salvation Army, etc etc) because they generally don't know what they have and sell games in packs of 5 or more for CHEAP. Pawn shops occasionally have good deals, but they also tend to check eBay for their prices, so some titles have ridiculous price tags (for example, one local shop has a copy of North & South (which , with no label, and a giant HOLE in the cartridge, as if somebody hit it with a hammer, for $30..."as is". Haha). I really hate eBay, but a couple tricks can help you find the occasional good deal. Misspellings is a big one. Search for incorrectly spelled titles (Nintnedo, Tengin, etc) and you can sometimes find auctions that other collectors are missing.

There prices are pretty decent at the one near me, but you really have to use the buy 2 get 1 free deal to make it work. The average price for a common game is like $3 and a semi-common is $5-$6. I usually get 3 $5 games for $10.
Of all the stores that sell uded games (gamestop, eb, etc.) they have the biggest selection of 8-bit (the one here anyway), so that is why I prefer them. They literally have 5 times as many 8-bit as the other stores in the area.

Actually, I spent most of my childhood there (I was born in Cali). Yeah, basically the whole state does suck. All we had to do when we were growing up was skateboard, videogames, drink beer, drugs, and doing random stupid things. And what's worse is the cops!! I think they might have the worst Cop/people ratio than any other state, at least my home town Spencer Ia does!

Got around to checking out Rhino games....... AWESOME!!! These guys are just about dirt cheap!!! They had an excellent selection of older systems/games. I wish I had one of these in Sioux Falls, everywhere here sells NES games at $5 NO MATTER WHAT GAME IT IS! And the buy 2 get 1 free makes it even cheaper. I bought three NES games and I paid about $4.23 or something like that. Awesome store LordJair! I'm jealous.
