Game prices at Gamestop in Munich are ridiculous...
Most 360 games cost 64.99 Euros (around 87$). They ask 69.99 for PS3 games (94$). What's that?? :x
Well, even a 25% reduced 360 still costs 400$.

   I feel sorry for you! $87 for a 360 game is ridiculous... I don't even like spending $30 for used 360 games.

Good thing I don't have a 360 (yet).
And I would never buy games at gamestop.
But even at other stores 60 Euros (over 80$) are normal prices for 360, PS3 and even Wii games. Hell, they want 40 Euros (54$) for most DS games and 40-50 Euros for PSP games.

A quick question - my friend wants to know which is the best way to stand your 360. Is it so that it's upright with the harddrive on the top, or on the side so that the harddrive is on the side? We've heard conflicting info, but i imagine it's better on the side.

It's designed to go both ways, I have mine vertical. A lot of people whine about that though.

If you have it in a stable place where it's not going to get knocked over, either way is fine.

Has anybody here played lost planet? If so, can I have your opinion on it?

I love the game, but I know others that aren't so fond of it. The biggest down side of the game is that it starts out slow. But if you have the patience, it pays off.

Now Multi-player is awesome too. But once I get the last two achievements for it, I'll probably never play it online again. I'm still trying to beat it on EXTREME :? for the last of four achievements I need for this game.

That'd be me.

I'll admit that it did pick up slightly, but it's still an annoying, slow, piece of crap.

Multiplayer is solid, but I'm not much of a V.S. MP player.

http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/lostplanet

Check out Metacritic for other's thoughts, be sure to read the complaints too, I generally try to deal, but in this case, they're game-breakingly bad.

It should be noted that even one of the best reviews advises skipping the story, which is sound advice, as it tries to be all Metal Gear Solid, but ends up failing miserably.

If you're looking for a mindless shooter, pick up Earth Defense Force 2017. The objectives are clear, if it moves, kill the shit out of it. the hilarious part though, is that you'll spend more time strategizing in EDF than you will in Lost Planet.

I still say you should give it more of a chance. Try getting to level 4 on EXTREME, I guarantee you will like it more, or at least see that its not all just wandering around in the snow.

On a side note, I *OMFG I SWEARED* LOVE MY XBOX360!!!! I have been playing the shit out of it lately and now I don't know how I could ever live without it. Just had to get that out

So I can experience more of the whole get knocked over repeatedly, unable to move gameplay feature? pass.

I want to see the light, too.
Problem is I don't like games involving war, shooting (1st person shooters to be precise) and sports (incl. racing and beat-em ups).
That quite narrows down the "great games" list.

Are there any good platformers or RPGs (except Blue Dragon and Oblivion) that would make the 360 a good purchase for me?

And I fear the red ring of death...

At the time I'm more drawn to the PS3, because all the games are region free there, which would allow me to get games from all regions for one console... Most games on 360 are locked again, which is kind of a bad thing.
Unfortunately it's the same with the Wii. That's why I still don't own one...

I hear you on the sport games, manuel, but games that involve shooting and/or war is what I live for.

Actually, not all was thinking. Some was plotting, some was planning, and finally the explaining of my plan which I plotted after I thought of it.

I know these are "good" from a technical standpoint, but I don't like the genre, so they aren't good for me.
That's too bad. I guess it would be great if I liked shooters and stuff.
I think my gaming taste is more "Japanese" style. RPGs and the likes.

Eternal Sonata (Trusty Bell in Japan) looks like a solid entry from Namco, the demo was good fun.

Platformers... Kameo is decent, not great. Lego Star Wars II could be considered a platformer I suppose.

While that is an issue, it's not near as big as it's made out to be. The internets are made up of the vocal minority, unfortunately.

They may all be region free, but you can pretty much choose from Resistance (FPS) or Motorstorm (Racing) aside from those, the machine has nothing at this point in time. I can't even think of any non-shooters that are coming up.

Most, yes, but there are a lot that are region free, play asia has a nice list.

I think i'll try to rent Lost Planet, there's a lot of mixed opinion over it...

I'm pretty into my 360 at the moment also, i've been playing alot of Virtua Tennis 3. I'm happy with my purchase, but I plan on picking up the Wii and a PS3 (when it's cheaper) when I graduate.

I've seen pics of Eternal Sonata and I must say those look very good.

That's very true. But still, there aren't many complaints about dead Wiis and PS3s around (yet), so I guess the biggest problems are with the 360.

Well, I guess the time I will be able to buy a new machine, there will be more good games justifying a purchase. :) For now neither the PS3 nor the 360 have enough games for me. I only buy consoles when I'm sure I can at least buy 10-15 good games for it.

I have a question, I'm really wanting to buy my own 360. So I was thinking I would like to get the Elite but I don't have HDMI yet. But the 120 GIG Hard Drive does sound pretty nice. Should I go for the Elite or just get the older model 360? Just Wondering any advice would help. :)
Maybe the Older model 360+120 GIG Hard Drive could be cheaper then the Elite? If it turns out to be the same price I will just grab the Elite.

If you plan to download a lot then a bigger HDD makes sense.
And if the price is ok, go for the Elite.
On the other hand it also depends on what color you prefer. :P

Thats a no. It would be more expensive to go that way. I'd say your better off going for the Elite, at least that is what I would do if I could.
