Finally, no more bothering with downloading SNES games one by one. A friend of mine got all the SNES games ever published, and even more to it, on a CD for me. Everything from Europe, USA, Japan etc. So now I just downloaded a SNES emulator, "ZSNES" and I have all the games for it. I think I'll ask him to find a couple of NES games and burn them on a new CD for me while he's at it. :wink:
BTW, I noticed that if I take all the maps with the games from the CD, and put them on in some map on my computer, strange enough it doesn't take more space than just a few KBITs...
Actually, not all was thinking. Some was plotting, some was planning, and finally the explaining of my plan which I plotted after I thought of it.

Roms of all SNES games will never fit on one CD. You sure it's no DVD? Even then... There are over 1200 japanese games alone.
But surely you'll have lots of fun with these. :)
What do you mean by "maps"?... zip-Folders? (perhaps you only have shortcuts on you PC, that's why it's only a few kbs. If you copied all the roms they would surely take a lot of space.
I'm still thinking of moving this thread to the Emulation/Roms section.

If you do have all the SNES games on that cd...stay far far away from leathal weapon...man oh man was that game plain AWFUL. Another movie to game where the movie was of couse..better like most of the time.

Yeah, I ment DVD, I just always say CD whatever it is. :P Yeah, you're probably right about the shortcuts, and yeah I do mean zip-folders. The thing I do, that it shouldn't take too much space on the computer, is just copy the zip-folders from the DVD, play the games I want to at the time, then when I'm done, I'll delete them. When I want to play them again, same procedure. :wink:

OR.... you could just keep the ROMs on the DVD and when you want to play a game, put the DVD in the computer and browse for it in the emulator. seems alot easier that way :lol:

Yeah, I even have a disc with GENS on it, and all of the good Genesis ROM's. I can run the emulator right off the CD, and select games off the same CD from the emulator.
Granted, it is a little slower than just select ROM's on your HDD, but it's alot faster then dragging the files from the CD to your computer.

I believe a game ROM must be on the computer's hard-drive in order for the emulator to make a proper "save file" for it. You can still actively play the games off a disc, but the "game saves" need to be in the same directory as the ROM to work, and you can't just write the save file to a removable disc. (I've never tried playing a game/emulator off a floppy disk though. Maybe that would work.)

There's a VERY easy way to get around not being able to save, given that the emulator has the ability. Like was said, you could specify where you want it to go. Instead of specifying everytime, just set the emulator up to what directories you want prior to placing it on a disc. Then you could have something like: C:\Emu\FCEUltra\saves\ Now you don't have to specify each and everytime you run the disc, it's already set-up. Also, setting it up the way specified above lets you save in a nice, orderly directory. Other emulators on disc could then be... say: C:\Emu\NameOfEmulator\saves ... or whatever you specify, such as screenshots, movies, etc... Now I'm just rambling, but I think you get the point.
