I often look around for information on different NES games only to find little to no documentation on the games or how they play in general. Classic or not, I think way too many NES games are overlooked simply because no one ever takes the time to play them, so here's what I'm trying to do. Since quite a few people here have gigantic game collections, I figure we can collaborate and choose a "Game of the Week". Every week, one new game is taken simultaneously from our collections and played. It could be a collaborative effort to take a game from obscurity and give the games the serious playthough they deserve, with rants, raves, and how to beat tricky parts following. I figure the focus would be platformers, RPGs, and shooters of an ignored type. I'm thinking it'd also be cool to have a Game of the Week thread for more popular games, but I figure my primary focus at the moment is obscure games. Go ahead and suggest some fitting games if interested, I'll post a few of mine later.

I'm back bitches. :)

My List. Remember, everything can be bought, for a price.

A "Game of the Week" is a good idea and I enjoy participating in these sort of topics at nesworld.com and nesforums.net. It would be especially good at NES Files because I have always felt there is more of an emphasis on the playing of games here rather than just collecting. This sort of thing needs quite a bit of coordinating though. If everyone just posts a bunch of games it simply turns into another underrated games thread.

I approve. I think once a game is chosen as "Game of the Week" it should get its own thread for discussion (otherwise this topic will become very long). Maybe get a "sticky" for a week.

Its much more interesting if everyone here was playing the same game at the same time, as it opens up more elaborate discussion about it. Sharing tips and tactics, praise and complaints would make it much easier to follow along.
Or something like that.

Now I need to think of game worth mentioning.

Mighty Final Fight was a pretty good nes brawler. Had decent muisc, OK levels...and good graphics. The only problem I had with that game is the reach when your trying to hit someone is so short..ESPECIALLY with haggar.
You usually end up getting hit by an enemy when you go up to him to try to punch. But other than that I really really thought it was a good game...But not as good as the arcade original though. Good game I suggest it be played.

As mentioned before, I really like the game "Déjà Vu". It's a very detailed and good game. The whole thought behind the game must be very well planned. The story is very good, and it takes a while to finish the game. You must have patience, otherwise I wouldn't reccomend this game. The graphics are OK. For me the playability is great. Anyway thats just my opinion.

The only thing that is a bummer with this game, is that it can be a little too detailed. It can drive you crazy you know.

Actually, not all was thinking. Some was plotting, some was planning, and finally the explaining of my plan which I plotted after I thought of it.

The whole game is about that you wake up in the mens room, sitting on a toilet, and find out that you don't know who you are and where you belong. You're supposed to find out who you are through the game. To do so you have to investigate every place you go to. Opening drawers, opening new doors etc. Finding new clues that leads you to another neighbourhood. On the way you find keys and such, and you're supposed to find out where it leads. It's just one big mind-game.

I'm not exactly sure what genre it goes under, here at the nesfiles in the "games" section it just says "others" at the genre description...

My guesses is that it could go under RPG, not like the other RPG games of course, but it's the best I can come up with. If you play it, you can se that there's a lot of similar things between this game and an RPG, if you think of that you have to select your actions on the "ATB" system. Like you select "open" and then press on a door.

Actually, not all was thinking. Some was plotting, some was planning, and finally the explaining of my plan which I plotted after I thought of it.

Isn't it then more of a "point and click adventure" game?

Well, I guess you hit it manuel. :P I couldn't come up with a better thing to call it.
