Okay, when/where/why did they start calling Dr. Robotnik by a different name. Everywhere I go people just call him Eggman, which sounds lame and unimaginative. Did they just decide that people are stupid and can't pronounce Robotnik? It doesn't seem so tough to me... You say the word 'Robot,' then you throw an NES Files username on the back of it. Or is this a totally different character? If so, where is Robotnik? This has been bothering me for awhile now.

They started calling him Eggman since Sonic Adventure for DC. I wish they would keep his name from the older games.

I always thought of it as a nickname, I know he's always been Robotnik to me.

We are lead to believe it is a nickname given to Robotnik, by Sonic and his friends. I think I read it in the "Sonic Adventure" instruction book. So, I imagine he's still called Robotnik really.

In Japan he was ALWAYS known as Dr. Eggman. Since the DC version, they have dropped the American nickname.

Indeed, it makes him sound like an Russian dictator.
Eggman is just laughable, maybe Sonic & Co. find him the embodiment of pure hilarity as opposed the fearing him, as they used to. Probably.

Man, I'm so out of the loop. I didn't even know they changed his name!

And what a stupid choice of name... Dr. Eggman?

What is he a maniacle Easter Bunny?

He'll be forever Robotnik in my household.

I need friends.... I had to nix Tom. He wasn't really my friend. His smile "mocked" me.

That game upped the ante a little too fast for my tastes, but I still liked it. Hell, I liked any puyo puyo clone. Still do!

You missed my post. Dr. Eggman is his REAL name. They CREATED the name Dr. Robotnik for the American releases of Sonic 1-3, CD, etc etc. The majority of video game characters get renamed when they come stateside.

For whatever reason, they decided to drop Robotnik after the DC version and stick with his actual Japanese name.

Personally, I call him either.

Man, you'd think that they would've thought of something better when they originally conceived the concept of him. Eggman is so uncreative. Oh well, Robotnik he remains to me.
