From what I've played of Shenmue, it looked muy bueno! If I ever played it all the way through, it would take forever! I'd probably try and pick up, look in, and read every object in the game! You could probably put in a TON of hours just by looking at stuff! http://robertlbryant.com

yes, you can put in a ton of hours just looking, or buying Soda from the vending machine, or collecting the little capsule toys... it's a great game that I really need to sit down and play though...

Typing of the Dead is reason enough to get Dreamcast. Absolutely love it. Tony Hawk 2 (the best THPS) is great on it. You gotta get the fishing reel, too. I heard there is a maracas game that sounds fun... Oh, and the microphone of seamen is fun..but it wears off quickly.. That system is the second best system as far as peripherals...next to NES. Oh, and the 2k2 or 2k games are really fun. I would recommend it. Highly.

Collecting capsule toys??? I need to get that game! I love such games where you an just go around and watch things (when they are made well). And now I'm also very curious about typing of the dead. Need to look for a keyboard, too in Japan.

Yes, you can even play a couple of older Sega games at the arcade on the game, from what I understand... one of these games is Hang-On... Being able to do so much in one game is great! http://robertlbryant.com

Playing older games is a very cool feature. I already liked it in Animal Crossing.

I bought Shenmue yesterday. I can already see that this game is going to eat up quite a bit of my time! I love games where you can just explore areas and things that have nothing to do with completing the game.

Here's what's left of my DreamCast collection. Hopefully I'll be getting another system sometime in the near future... http://robertlbryant.com

No, it's an off brand controller. It's made by a company called... Naki maybe? I'm at the college right now, so I'm not too sure what it is. It's been awhile since I used that controller, but I remember there was something that irritated me about it. The original DC controllers are better than those. I just want another system so I can play The Typing of the Dead! http://robertlbryant.com

and now after reading through the thread again, I'll be digging my DC out later tonight and attempting Shenmue.

I have beaten 'Shenmue'! Yay! One word of warning to those who play it though... If you are planning on getting all the "collectibles", make sure you do it BEFORE disc 3. On disc 3, you'll pretty much be forced to play the main story and won't have much time to do extra stuff. It's also a good idea to train your fighting moves before the final disc as well (you'll need them). I only got about 75 capsul toys, and was very dissappointed I didn't win the Tomato Convenience Store drawing for the Sega Saturn games (that Ryo can apparently play on his Saturn at his home). The "lucky drawing" is the worst thing about the game, but it is optional. I also didn't get the high scores on 'Hang-On' or 'Space Harrier' (it's hard because you have to do it on 100 Yen). Still though, great game. Can't wait to play the sequel. Hopefully it will be on the DreamCast also. http://www.playthenes.com

Shenmue 2 was on the Dreamcast, but it was never released here. Unless you want to download it, you'll need an Xbox. I'm not sure about the language barrier either, so perhaps the xbox version is a better bet.

You could also try the Japanese version. Let's see if I can find it in Japan.

I started playing last night, and I'm a little into the second disc now, but I've hit a rut... I'm not sure what I need to do. but I played for a good 9 hours today, so I think I'll take a break and look at it in a new light tomorrow. it really is an awesome game. I wish I had gotten around to playing it sooner.

I'm not talking about the anime series (it's good. watch it!), but about the game "Record of Lodoss War" for Dreamcast. Anyone here who played it?
