I've been wondering with the support of classic titles for the Revolution whether it will raise or lower the price of original NES games. On the one hand, the prices could lower if they made the classic games available cheap (less than $5 each), and on the other it could raise the prices due to a more massive scale rebirth in interest. I personally see the Revolution's compatability as an obstacle for us casual cheap hobby collectors...I'm just glad that I have a bunch of games now for dirt cheap. So what do you guys think?

I think Nintendo's smart, so there's a good chance that they won't tread on the path of Xbox arcade pricing.

It's iffy now that I think about it. I was just watching some show on G4 (why did I have it on that channel? Your guess is as good as mine), and they were reviewing some older games that were on compilation disks. Not only were they "reviewing" them, if you can call it that, but they were putting them all down pretty much. I know there's alot of idiots on the net who most likely live by what they see/hear on that channel when it comes to gaming, so maybe that will help deter people from wanting to purchase old carts, and settle only for downloads if they choose to brave how awful the games are (in their eyes). On the other hand, Nintendo is good at marketing most of the time, so young ones that have only experienced a tad of NES may just get into it and decide to start collecting... ugh... prices are already high as it is too. It's pretty much a toss up I think.

As for me I don't care if they release the old titles on the Revolution *unless they release rare games that I couldn't find on cart*. I just kinda prefer to play the games on the systems that they were intended for.

i think it'll bring the price down a little bit. i mean, who wants to own the cart when you can just download it, right? right? :lol: what i mean is the people that aren't really into collecting for the NES, won't go out and buy the cart. they'll just download them and play them on their new fangled Revolution. EDIT: atleast that's what i'm hoping....

I suspect that most prices for the old original carts will drop either a little or a lot depending on the game and how widespread it is on the Revolution.

I don't think the revolution has anything to do with this but, I went and did my monthly PAWN shopping. Everytime I asked the pawn stores how much they were charging for NES games they had a sigh of relief and said $2 :shock:(where the average NES game should be). I don't know if they are sick of not selling any games at $5 a game, so they just want to get rid of them or what? Anyone else notice a drop in price for NES games? or any other old systems?

Some of the Nes games around here are way over priced I mean for commons this one sells common games for $8.00CDN. While others have all types of games for $2.00CDN.

Hmm...i've noticed game prices have gone down and console prices have stayed the same.
As for the rev increasing or decreasing prices, it is a toss up, as Roth said.
But i'll be using the current decrease in game prices to my advantage, just in case.
