I can't say as I've ever played with and MSX. I should look that game up.

If you would play that game, you would see why I hate Snake's Revenge. That game had nothing on the MSX Metal Gear 2. That's because the MSX version was designed by Hideo Kojima. If you'd like a good emulator for it and the ROM for that game, I could e-mail it. http://robertlbryant.com

Well, I'm on a macintosh, and my video doesn't support acceleration, so it wouldn't do me any good right now, but perhaps in the future I'll get my PC back and give it a look.

so I now have had the game for almost two weeks and am preparing to face Chaos, and thus far, it's been a very enjoyable experience. I'll have to play though the NES version once more so I can truly compare them. The graphics and audio have been brought up to date, and I'm told that after completing both games and audio player is unlocked, so you can enjoy all of the great music from the games without having to march around to that area. but of course, I have to play through FFII for that, and I believe it's the Japanese (real) FFII.

I have FF Origins for PSX, and found that the new additions like 'running' and attacking a new enemy after the one you targeted was already dead. And then I played FF2 for the first time and really liked it. But anyways, from what I have seen the only difference between Origins and Dawn of Souls besides the new dungeon. Is there any reason to get DOS for the gameplay if I already beat origins? Thanks for the input.

DOS was the first ever game I picked up with my GBA. I was exteremly impressed with the game and how they kept to most of the original stuff...HOWEVER, I would have rathered that they not really change anything but add things, cause I don't like how they changed the magic names and some of the cave names like GURGU is now GULG? absolute best thing about DOS FF1 was no longer having to purchase your heal potions 1 by 1. my god, i remember the trip to the marsh cave was such a pain.

Got it, played it, loved it. The additions to the game have made it relatively easier and the graphics better. The currency, "G" has been changed to "Gil" though.

This has been one of the best game buys I've made in a long time, even though for the most part I don't care for handheld games because my GBA doesn't have the light. Sometimes I don't like it when a company totally revamps games, but in this case, it's awesome. I can't make a comparison of FF2, because I haven't finished the original of that one yet, but the changes made to FF1 are incredible, and are badly needed, as well. By the way, my wife says there's some system out there you can plug GBA games into and see them on the TV. Is she right? Once again, I feel like an idiot for asking this, but I haven't owned any new Nintendo systems since the SNES, and my GBA is an antique by today's standards.

There's a TV adapter mod you can buy for the GBA itself, or there's the Gameboy Player. But you have to use the 'Cube controllers with it, unless you import one of those Hori digital pads.

Duly noted, when I get my inheritance  This game just handed my butt to me on a plate yesterday! The "Earthgift Shrine" is not a place to mess with just yet, apparently. I looked up the Dawn Of Souls link you gave me a few weeks ago, Luke, and discovered what they are under Soul Of Chaos. Nice additions! I had just gotten a suit of armor for the Monk that didn't lower his evade and had quite a nice defense, but the Cerebus wiped my party out.
