Alright instead of the Off-topic stuff that has been happening around here I thought it would be a neat idea to have a Chat room on these forums. We could use this site to make the chat room: http://www.webweaver.nu/chat.shtml

We already have an IRC channel. Though I've been the only one in it for the past... week now. http://forums.nesfiles.com/viewtopic.php?t=3465Perhaps we need to find a java IRC client to simplify things for inexperienced users.

Yeah... sorry I can't make it on any more... my dear old mum almost strangled me when she found out I installed a chat client... I'm afraid that years of anti-chat sentiment have had a profound effect on her.

I pretty much gave up on the IRC thing. Not enough people took interest, though it was fun talking to those that did pop in every once-in-a-while. http://robertlbryant.com

This is EXACTLY why we have an Announcements forum... to keep you up-to-date with the goings on of the site, and members of the site. You were posting on the very same day, and day after as well airfiggy. IF YOU'RE GOING TO LOOK AT JUST ONE FORUM, MAKE IT THE ANNOUNCEMENTS FORUM!!! http://robertlbryant.com

I tried the IRC clients, but they would only work if I turned off my firewall/internet security, which i'm not too keen on doing as I always seem to get viruses. :( (I think I had a conversation with Uber Newb about this) Otherwise, I would have joined for sure.

Hence my (hopefully temporary, but not likely) abandonment of MIRC.

I can get in fine, but because of my schedule I can only get in at ungodly hours. And no one seems to be up that late. So I only popped in a couple of times before throwing in the towel :P

"Uber Newb" wrote:I had to turn off my antivirus entirely. Turn off your AntiVirus software? Running Norton, or McAfee, eh? I'd strongly suggest switching to something else. You don't have to TURN OFF your firewall, just forward some ports, or allow the application if you're using the XP firewall or ZoneAlarm. I can't help beyond that advice, I'm not lame and have a router with a built-in, functional firewall that doesn't lame up my connection.

Have Zonealarm. Tried turning of the firewall, gave Mirc a full trust rating (and therebye giving it unrestricted access, supposedly), but still no good. At the end, I had almost turned off everything, it still wouldn't work, so I just shut down the software.
