Personally, I've never been too interested in the Atari/Intellivision age. Just never appealed to me. However, I've always been interested in the Vectrex. Everything about it is just too awesome. The way a controller can fit into a slot under it, the fact that it used all vector graphics, the fact that it had its own monitor, I just love it.

My question is, how feasible is it for a collector? I've been watching them on ebay for a little while, and the prices seem very chaotic. Besides, I know very little about them technically. How do they hold up over the years? What problems do they have? Can they be fixed? How difficult is it to obtain homebrew games? How good were the games as of themselves, anyway?

Help would be appreciated.

Well, as with any 25 year old electronic device (especially monitors...) life could end at any time, and you can bet you won't be finding a replacement display for that thing any time soon.

I think it would be worth owning more as a collector's/conversation piece.
