Yesterday, I remembered Seiken Densetsu 3. I tried a rom of it a while back and said to myself 'durr, I should play this one day!' and never did. So now that I've remembered and I have some time (and I need to distract myself from various low level quests in various other RPGs) I'm actually into it.

My question is, are there any other (good) obscure SNES RPGs you guys can think of that I should try later this summer? I've played most of the RPGs mentioned in the other threads. Except Terranigma. I've gone through the usual suspects like the Final Fantasy games, Breath of Fire, Legend of the 7 Stars, 7th Saga, Arcana, Bahamut Lagoon, etc.

Maybe you guys can point me in new and exciting directions ;)

The Super Mario RPG for SNES is, well, in my opinion, good. Think Final Fantasy/Legend Of Mana with Mario SuperColors thrown in..
I think the official title is "Seven Stars," or something like that, but on most ROM sites is simply listed as Super Mario RPG.
Heh! Or is that the "Legend Of The 7 Stars" you already mentioned? In that case, this post is crap...
Eh, try Secret Of Mana. I've heard great things about that one, too.
What happened to Solo White Mage? Is he/she dead?

Now she is. She cheated on him with the black magic merchant. No
body double crosses One Sexy Guy...

(EDIT Oh, wait. There's Lagoon on your list. I ARE NOT BEING ABLE TO READ)

RPGs, RPGs... I can't think of many obscure rpgs for the SNES... now NES, on the other hand...

I knew the merchant had something up his sleeve..
I forgot--Ultima False Prophet had me obsessed for quite awhile. I haven't played any of the others, but the intro to Ultima Black Gate looks promising, as well.

No, Solo White Mage isn't dead. He's boringly gaining levels. I just want some stuff to distract me in between mind numbing sessions.

And Bahamut lagood and Lagoon are two different games. But I've played both. Thanks for the thought ;)

I liked the NES Ultima games, so I'll check out the SNES Ultima games. Thanks for the head's up.

Whoah... Bahamut Lagoon looks awesome... I'll be playing that immediately.

Well, don't know if it's helped you, OSG, but it's certainly helped me. As the Italians say; "Sayonara."

Bahamut..Bahamut..isn't he the friendly dragon in Final Fantasy?!? Is this game related to it?
I know there was a Chocobo one for PS1, that my wife unfortunately got rid of.
Oh, and I thought of another one--Ys 3, Wanderers From Ys. I haven't gone all the way through it yet, but again, the start of it looks good.

Not exactly... Bahamut was originally some sort of Water Dragon thing in Arabic mythology, got turned into a benevolent dragon in D&D, a theme further developed by the Final Fantasy series, therefore it became somewhat synonomous with dragons (at least in Japan), as evidenced by games like Bahamut Lagoon and Bahamut Bahant Senki.

Damn, I love Wikipedia.

You could check out this game called "Mystic Quest" i'm not sure how popular it is but it looks as if it could be entertaining. I've been thinking about picking it up myself but I could do with actual opinions.

Alrighty! This thread delivers :D

David, I bought Mystic Quest because they put the 'final fantasy' name on it. Liars.

Try AD&D: Eye of the Beholder If you want the shadowgate type experience on SNES.

Here it's just called "Mystic Quest Legend" with no mention of the "Final Fantasy" Which may exaplain why it is slighlty cheaper than other SNES RRG's, which cost too much (bar Zelda)

I could never figure out how to attack. I got pinned into a corner and killed by a goblin within minutes of starting... And I did play the GBA version...

Well technically it is a "sort of" Final Fantasy game.
I have to admit I always liked and still do like Mystic Quest. I played through that 3 or 4 times already and that's much for me.

May 16th...

I don't know if this was useful to OSG, but it's useful to me. I loved Shadowgate, and Deja Vu, for the NES.
I have Mystic Quest and haven't gotten into it yet, it looks like a kind of "Pocket Fighter-ish" Final Fantasy, AKA more light-hearted?

I'm still digging on Drakkhen 2. Mode 7 overworld map? Wha!?

Eye of the Beholder I remember vaguely renting back in the day, but it has been added to my to-try list. Which is small, so It'll happen :D

And yeah, Mystic Quest is like, RPG junior. Being able to restart any battle you lose really takes the strategy out of it.

I tried Eye Of The Beholder last night and it also reminds me of Ultima: Exodus, the way you create your characters at the beginning.
I didn't get into it much, but I believe the way you attack is to point the pointer at your sword...I ran into the same goblin Uber Newb did and he died after I did that action. (The goblin, not Uber Newb). :D
