I was the biggest supporter of N64 that you could find, so when all the new systems came out I got a Gamecube. I was so disappointed at the games they DIDN'T have that a little over a year later I bought a PS2 and I've barely touched my Gamecube since.

I loved Wind Waker, except for that stupid part at the end where you have to pay Tingle a ton of money. That was horribly boring to me.
I'll agree the Gamecube isn't a strong as the other systems right now, but I think the fact they did so great on the GBA makes up for that. The other thing is that when Nintendo decided to use cartridges for the N64, a lot of companies like Square started making games for playstation because they used disks.
If the revolution ends up being as good as it sounds, though, Nintendo might be right back in it.

I have to say I didn't like Wind Waker. I thought the story lacked what makes it a Zelda game. (here there might some spoilers for Ocraina of Time, and Wind Waker, but nothing big at all) In OoT, when your leaving the forest for the first time, you meet Saria, and they look at each, and there is no dialoge, but you kinda know what they are thinking, like she will miss him, and see may have even loved him, and for Link, that he has grown up, and is ready to take on his fears. In WW, when hw leaves his grandma for the first time. All he is doing is crying, and crying. It makes Link look like someone he never was. (this is all MY opinion, and please don't bash it)

I'll always love Nintendo but I think they go into innovation overkill at times. Mario Sunshine wasn't a bad game, but really all I wanted to do was run and jump and play. A free roaming Mario game would be awsome if they did it like M64. Sadly I think they're ignoring their core audeince more and more as they try to appeal to more non gamers. Whenever I read something about Reggie calling the cube (or any other current Nintendo system) the hardcore gamers system I just wan't to smack him up against his big fat head. Get me a new Contra and Mega Man (non rpg) game on the cube then you can start calling it the hardcore gamers system Reggie.
edit: I liked WW more than the N64 games. Especially the parts that really had the old school essence in them, like the parts where you would fight off hords of enemies that just kept coming (i.e. the cave on link's home island where the triforce map was hidden) And then having to refight several of the bosses at the end was just classic.

"manuel" wrote:Probably that's why! I liked the sailing part. :D But with the right takts you didn't need to sail so much, you could teleport everywhere.
Sailing around, find new islands or those battleships and so. I really enjoyed it. that's one of the reasons I liked it too :D Anyway, I don't think they went downhill, look at some of the truly awful games out there on PS2 etc
