I posted something about this game earlier, and noticed there were no topics on it! Anyway, this is one of my favorite all time games. I like when older games are designed relatively the same (side view). Kind of like how they did Contra: Shattered Soldier. I went through this game (SotN) countless times, and never got tired of it! I'll have to pick it up again. http://robertlbryant.com

Castlevania Symphony of the Night-Greatest Castlevania game EVER! -Greatest side-scrolling adventure game EVER! -Greatest original musical soundtrack EVER! -Coolest main character (Alucard) EVER... almost. -Best vampire bat physics engine EVER! -Best Succubus art rendering... EVER! So I guess it's a halfway decent game then. http://www.playthenes.com

Yeah, CV III was an EXCELLENT game! However, I feel that the thing SotN has over that game is the combining of games. It's like a standard CV side view game, with the adventure elements from the second in the series. Don't get me wrong, I DO like Dracula's Curse... very much so. Getting to choose your own path and what-not... excellent. They just took the games a step ahead when they released SotN. Adventure, leveling up like an RPG, familiars, awesome bosses... I think it was executed very well, and I hope they plan on selling a game similar to it in the future. http://robertlbryant.com

Castlevania SOTN was one of those games I never expected to fall in love with. First time through I maxed everything, percentage, beastiary, even got the Duplicator. Feels a bit more laid back than it's closest example Super Metroid, although not necessarily a bad thing. Honestly, I miss 2D games. It's a shame newer more powerful consoles have to strut their stuff in 3 dimensions and hardly ever give any 2D offerings. Don't get me wrong, 3D can be nice, but to so quickly kill the entire design of games up to that point...it didn't go well with me, could be why I collect NES games in the first place. My List. Remember, everything can be bought, for a price.

This is an incredible game and here follows a SPOILER of some sorts for those who haven't played--I love when the castle flips upside-down. I still haven't completed it, but I've got to do this someday...Great music, graphics, etc. I don't know if there is a thread for this one, but to me, Chronicles was too easy.

I don't own a PS1 or PS2 and don't really plan on it. Some reason I don't really like Playstation. However, I have thought about getting a PS1 and SotN. I want to play that game again so bad. My brother-in-law had it and I couldn't stop playing it. The only game I've ever beat and immeadiately started over without taking a break.

Hell, I'm not a fan of Playstation either, but in the end, it's the games that count.

Alternately, 'Castlevania Symphony of the Night' will be available at the XBOX Live arcade later this year. http://www.playthenes.com
