make of it what you will, but it's the first even speculation that I've seen regarding the next console.

New type of controller, eh? Maybe it's a chainsaw! :D

Seriously, I wonder what kind of layout there could be that could top the types that are already out?

without using a D-pad, or A or B buttons... I hope they don't do something stupid...

It's like the review said, they're not afraid to try new things. Their biggest failure of trying new things was the Virtual Boy. I think they probably learned from their mistakes. With the "futuristic" type controls that are on the DS, I expect the new one to shine!

I'm not going to expect anything... We'll have to see how it turns out, I don't WANT and LCD touchscreen in my console controller, I've been known to throw them at times :P and an LCD isn't going to survive that.

I expect whatever it's going to be will be really innovative, but if it works in the hands of the public, that's what is yet to be seen...

again, like the Virtual Boy, innovative, but the headaches weren't cool. I had a VB, I think I still do somewhere... likely lost all the games though...

You know the rollerball deal in the middle of the keyboards on laptops? I could see them trying to implement some crazy stuff like that. That wouldn't really work, but something along those lines. I heard about those headaches, glad I never tried one!

I'm not sure about the rollerball thing, it's not much like nintendo to steal an old technology and rebrand it. I was discussing it with a friend of mine, and we determined that they'll likely go with a more simplified approach. Since most people are finding that they don't have the time to learn a new game. With 14+ buttons on controllers and all, a lot of games are hard to get into.

That's true. It is very tough to just sit down and play a game on the newer consoles. Perhaps they will go more basic...

The Virtual Boy never gave me a headache... I have it with 3 games, I think-- I got the system for $25 when they decided to end it, and the games were $10-20, I think-- WAY back now...

Why don't they just make a control pad out of silly puddy. That way, we can all confrom its shape to the maximum confort level.

I've come across these pages:

http://forums.gaming-age.com/showthread.php?t=31827

http://www.n-sider.com/articleview.php?articleid=296

both contain interesting info, but I wouldn't take any of it too seriously just yet...

Thanks for the two very interesting links.
Of course you can't take it too seriously, but I love such speculations. :)

Of course everything could be different and all could be lies...
But you never know.

I rather read good lies and speculations than read nothing.

Let's wait for the E3... in May, is it?

Yeah, I wish I could go, too.

From the first time I heard there is something like the E3 I wanted to go.

But the States are quite far from Germany, don't have such money.

Well, I'll watch the video game magazine DVDs, those have good coverage on stuff. 8)
