Count me in for the Revolution, too.
My heart beats for Nintendo, so I can't help. :)

But I'll buy it AFTER the first price drops.

I too get new systems really late. So dont feel bad. They just need to release them cheaper.

while most of that is cool, a lot of those games are going to have control problems, many of them used special controllers/accessories, and that was the whole gimmick of the game.

that said...

WE GET TO PLAY 64DD GAMES!!!

Well, once again us retro gamers catch no breaks...

I guess we should be used to it. We are forced to pay high prices on eBay, or grab ROMs that aren't exactly the most legal thing. I suppose emulation will have to keep being the way I play games that I can't find... oh, the life of crime.

that sucks. Im sure someone will find a way around this. maybe we could just hack the ROMs and make 'em work on the new Nintendo? (note: when I say we, I mean someone other than me.)

I figured that the idea of all those being for free download was way too good to be true. Nintendo knows that they can still make money out of their old titles, why would they stop that now? Also if I bought a Revolution and had immediate access to all those games (especially the N64 ones) I probably wouldn't be buying any Revolution games for a long time as I'd be too busy playing the likes of Banjo Tooie, Perfect Dark and so on. Nintendo certainly doesn't want that. They might give away a few NES or SNES games to encourage a purchase but probably only the ones that most people will lose interest in quickly, like the black box games.

I didn't believe for one second that Nintendo was going to offer the ability to play classic games on the "Revolution" for free.
However, the fact that the Revolution has this ability still earns it valuable points as the next-gen console of choice (for me) so far.

Of course, people will always find ways to get around the whole "pay to play" deal, and so will we (eventually).

We still have no info on the Revolution's new revolutionary controllers. They might be able to play those games utilizing the default peripheral's abilities.

I didn't really believe when people said downloads would be free. Would have been a nice idea, but not really practicable.
I think they will give you some titles for download in the Nintendo club. You buy Mario Revolution and get SMB1-3 or something for free on their homepage.

Apart from that I'm sure people will hack the official downloads or normal roms to work on the Revolution.
So in the end, we might get many games for free.

They will reveal the final design of the system at the end of the year. That's what you can read everywhere.

No problem. I just read it in a magazine yesterday.

I'm very excited about the controller. Hopefully it won't look as stupid as the PS3 boomerang (??) thing.
