This is really exciting as PS3 will be twice as powerful as Xbox 360, at the word right now.

I would say the controller looks like a boomerang.

That controller actually looks quite uncomfortable... cool... but it looks painful. The only thing that really matters to me right now...

OK, I just watched the entire Xbox 360 event that happened at e3 today (1:37 or so) and I don't even care about the PS3...

also, to clarify... the PS3 being 2.2 Teraflops is crap, that would mean a cluster of 10 PS3 consoles would give you the #4 spot on the top 500 list of supercomputers ( http://top500.org ) that is TOO much power, as a comparison, a similarly equipped PC (were it to exist) would cost probably $10,000 + This, in addition to Sony's notoriety for bold faced lies, make me VERY reluctant to believe anything about the PS3 as of yet.

Not to hijack the thread, but the Xbox 360 is where it's at for the coming generation... Microsoft has REALLY got their act together, and this is coming from someone who, up until a few weeks ago, hated the Xbox.

Dare I say, I'm almost not interested in the "Revolution" anymore...

the primary source of my excitement is from all of the footage shown in the e3 event, which can be found on http://xbox.com

The controller is unnecessarily ugly.. My hands tremble even to the thought of trying to play a video game with it.

I'll wait with judgements until all 3 consoles are released and I can advise all you to do that, too.

@Luke: I assume you also aren't interested in a new Zelda game that surely will come out for Revolution?

As impressive demos now may seem, one still has to wait until you get playable stuff and judge that.

To go back on topic:

The design of the PS3 is quite nice, but the controller looks like a cheap Taiwanese clone of something...

Im always a little slow when new gen things get released. Heck the only current new gen console i have is the GC and i got it 4 years after its release!. But it doesnt matter to me. I go at my own pace and i do not buy new products at launch anyaways because they are usually full of glitches. I have a friend that has a GC from launch and it gives him errors almost CONSTANTLY. I heard they had to call all of the Gamecubes back at one point and re release better quality ones. Crazy stuff.

Oh, I'm interested, Zelda seems to be the only franchise they can innovate with... but for the most part, I'm tired of Nintendo rehashing the same old crap with better graphics...

my point is, at the current point in time, the XBox 360 is the most inviting to me and has shown the most interesting games.

I'm glad SOMEBODY isn't just gobbling up these numbers Sony is throwing around. Anybody remember all the lies we were fed about the emotion engine? Sony was saying stuff like you could run Toy Story in real-time on PS2. Remember the Final Fantasy: Spirits Within hype? You were supposed to be able to play it in real-time on the PS2 as well. How about all those pre-rendered Tekken screens they were giving the gaming media? Sony was never called to task on that stuff, and it looks like they're doing it again with the PS3. I'm just a LITTLE suspicious of these ridiculous figures they're throwing around.

You should never believe those numbers the companies like to throw around. Just wait for the final product. :)

A realtime "Toy Story" is still far away I think. Very far.

For the record, as I'm sick of seeing this debate on so many message boards, the PS3 does have, FOR A FACT 2 teraflops of performance, and yes that DOES put it in the top 500 supercomputers in the world. I don't see why this is so surprising to many people, especially as the Cell processor is the 1st of its kind. The Xbox 360 lags behind with only 1 teraflop, and a slower GPU.
Having watched someone IN PERSON play on the PS3 i can say that all the shots you've seen so far are in fact in game, and it looks damn awesome when u play unreal 3 i can tell you! As for the Toy Story issue, it is quite possble that it can be played on a PS3 especially as the current next gen games are of superior graphical abilty.
For pure graphical performance the PS3 is miles ahead, but it all comes down to the games, where in my opinion the PS3 still wins. However, the Xbox 360 will have some good titles too, and it remains to be seen if it can outperform the PS3.

However, I for one know which i'd prefer....

I let everybody have his opinion. :)
But I'm waiting until the consoles are officially released and then say something about the performance.
May the PS3 be the strongest console of the 3, but what? That alone doesn't make the games good. Neither me nor you have actually played a completed next-generation game on the FINISHED hardware that's going to retail. HAVE YOU? I'm quite sure no.

Let's all wait for the release and not speculate too much about teraflops and stuff. These are just numbers.

When you bought a top500 supercomputer, let me know how gameplay is.

And then, try to render a 80 minute movie (like Toy Story or Nemo or something) in realtime. That would be cool, because animated movies would get MUCH cheaper and faster to produce. No need to buy workstations for 50 or 60 million $. Just buy 2 or 3 PS3s and render "Finding Nemo 2" in an hour...

I want a PS3, too, because it has 2 teraflops... - what are teraflops? - dunno, but it's more than XBOX and sounds cool - cool...

(you may take sarcasm home if you find some)

I'm also sick of the discussions, especially of the ones who state facts that aren't yet facts as true. As long as the PS3 isn't in the stores you can't know what power it will have. Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo can tell you any numbers. The truth will be revealed when the first consoles are actually shipped.

What's this? Logic and reason in an internet message board?

It can't be true.

For me, it's the modding scene that my decision will ultimately be based on. If I can do as much with an Xbox 360 as I can with my Xbox, that's what I'm going to get. With the next gen, I want a console that can run N64 expansion pack games at full speed. I want a console that can run a Dreamcast emulator.

Right now, my Xbox is a multi-system emulator, a media centre that can play media files over my home network from any computer in the house, a DVD player, and a current gen console. If I can have all that plus added power with a PS3, I'll get one. If I can have it with the 360, I'll take that. If both can do it, then I guess whichever one gets a price drop first will be the one I choose.

That's an argumentation that convinces me. :)

Some logic and reason can't be bad even on the internet.
