I was going through my nes rom list when I noticed Supermarioworld.nes....my first thought was "That can't be right..". I loaded it onto my nes emu and sure enough, it was Super Mario World in 8-bit graphics! It doesn't look like a hack or anything, in fact it plays just like the SNES version nearly. I don't remember downloading the thing...sometimes I get hundreds of roms all at once and don't play half of them for months on end. Anyways...has anyone else seen or heard of this game? I'm wondering if it's legit or some incredibly well done fan made rom. Can't find anything on Google....anyone know?

Yes it's a pirate, but an impressive one. The levels are changed slightly (and some are missed out all together) but you definitely recognize that you're playing Super Mario World. My only problem with it is that Mario's movement isn't too hot. If he is doing a fast run and then jumps his movement slows down considerably, making precise jumps a pain in the ass.

As already stated, it's a great pirate game. Some levels are changed or missing, but it's still good. :) I haven't played it to the end, though. Did anyone?

I've read that it ends somewhere in the second world, though if you disassemble the ROM, most of the rest of the game is there, it's as if they planned to completely remake it for the NES, but the boss walked in and said "well, time's up guys" and took what they had.

It's a great pirate game, had me fooled. Rates right up there with Sonic on SNES. I'm wondering how they pulled it off...must have been from scratch. Most pirates are graphics hacks..like Sonic SNES which is actually speedy gonzales I think. Anyways...it's fun, I may try to finish it one of these days. My son really likes it....at 6 he still has problems with SNES Super Mario, but he kicks butt on this version :)

http://bushidov.homelinux.com:8080/games.phpGo to the roms section, then the SNES folder and you'll find the sonic pirate in there under sonic.smc, you'll have to do a copy/paste to get it on your comp. Emuasylum.com also has it, but there SNES section is down at the moment. As far as the Mario pirate...I havent a clue where I picked it up. I'll try to upload it for you in my yahoo breifcase sometime this week...gotta find it first, it's on one of about 150 rom cds somewhere, lol.

Sonic can't spin-dash in the original Sonic the Hedgehog either, I thought it was pretty impressive for a sprite hack.

Yeah, it impressed me graphically....there's a gameboy equivalent called Sonic 6, it's also a speedy gonzales hack. So..has anyone ever played the Super Mario World hack for Genesis? It was originally Chip and Dales Rescue Rangers I beleive. Mario can't stomp enemies, but instead tosses boxes if I remember right...pretty weird :D

Yup i played it. Plays just like chip and dales where you throw boxes and the like. Got boring cause the game just felt incomplete.
